February 11, 2008 PCTEL Extends SeeGull(R) EX Multi-Band Scanning Capabilities to WCDMA 900 MHz High Performance Quad-Band Scanning Receiver Provides Simultaneous Measurements for All WCDMA/GSM Bands Deployed in Europe BARCELONA, Spain, Feb 11, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ:PCTI), a leading provider of wireless solutions, today announced the availability of its WCDMA/GSM SeeGull(R) EX Scanning Receivers for WCDMA 900 MHz networks. Customers can order today both the Quad-Band WCDMA/GSM EX and the Dual-Band WCDMA EX Mini. These scanning receivers provide high-speed and high-performance concurrent measurements and are particularly well suited for European wireless operators. The 900 MHz frequency band is strategically important to European and other wireless operators, and it should be crucial to the continued rollout of 3G services around the world as network engineers grapple with the task of overlaying new 900 MHz WCDMA networks onto legacy WCDMA/GSM networks. Engineers must characterize signal quality and identify RF interference to ensure successful network rollout and optimization. The SeeGull EX scanner provides a high performance solution to these engineering challenges. The new EX Multi-Band platform includes high scanning speeds across all bands coupled with exceptional C/I dynamic range. Importantly, the Quad-Band SeeGull EX provides simultaneous scanning of WCDMA networks at 2100 and 900 MHz, and GSM at 900 and 1800 MHz. Also available is the SeeGull EX Mini, a new yet more compact version of the EX that supports WCDMA at 900 and 2100 MHz. "The SeeGull EX Scanner is an invaluable tool for wireless operators and infrastructure vendors engaged in the expansion of their 3G networks," said Luis Rugeles, General Manager of PCTEL's RF Solution Group. "The EX Quad-Band scanner was designed to provide very high performance for the more complex, Multi-Band networks being deployed to sustain rapid 3G services growth. We continue to set new performance standards in our space," added Rugeles. The SeeGull scanning receiver product line includes solutions covering all major wide-area wireless technologies, including WCDMA/GSM, CDMA/EV-DO, TD-SCDMA and WiMAX, as well as solutions for indoor coverage planning. The accuracy and reliability of SeeGull measurements make these data ideal for use in RF propagation management, frequency allocation and other cell planning applications. SeeGull EX scanning receivers are available through the leading global providers of drive test solutions and directly from PCTEL. PCTEL will showcase the new SeeGull EX Receiver for WCDMA 900 MHz along with its other scanning receiver products and its entire portfolio of wireless solutions at the 2008 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The PCTEL booth will be located at 2C71 in Hall 2. About PCTEL PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq:PCTI), is a global leader in propagation and optimization solutions for the wireless industry.
