1 Things to Know
Looking to bring your designs to life? Export your entire planning or single typicals to quickly and easily display
them in your VR headset and, for example, give project updates by way of virtual exploration. Important innova-
tions, such as the Powerwall function, allow you to interactively take part in the planning without the need for a
VR headset.
With the VR-Viewer Version 2.1, you will gain direct access to the current pCon.planner 8.1 features. For instance,
the image quality has improved by the new option Denoising. The range of functions for construction has in-
creased; there are also new options available for windows and doors, like various plates for the door handle. You
will find further information at the pCon.planner PRO Features document.

3.2 Settings
3.2.1 General
Figure 21: “General” tab in the “Settings” dialog
Under the General tab, the following options are available:
1. Integrate SketchUp Layer: By default, this option is set to show a true original of the planning. For
quicker loading time, the VR-Viewer will hide any existing .skp objects.
2. Ambient Occlusion active: The shading method enables realistic shading in the room with a short ren-
dering time.
3. Shadows active: The pre-set light source (artificial sunlight) offers natural-looking shadows from objects.
4. Grid active: If enabled, the grid (on level 0) will be shown within the VR scene.
You can change these settings while another person is looking at the planning in virtual reality. Add or remove
the functions by simply clicking Show in VR.
Set the Teleport Range to decide how far the VR user will be able to move by using the teleport function inside
or outside of the planning. A distance of 8.0 is set as default.
Instead of using the world coordinate system {WKS} you are now able to choose an individual starting point inside
your planning. Set a Start Camera and select it at the dialog Settings. This position is valid for the glasses as well
as for the Powerwall.
If more than one camera is included in your planning, simply change your position by selecting another camera
in the Settings dialog of the pCon.planner. The user of the VR headset switches the camera by choosing the Next
Camera in the menu {Navigation} with the controller.

4.4 Powerwall – Interactive Room Exploration without VR Headset
Use the Powerwall function of the VR-Viewer to present your planning to a group of people.
As mentioned in Chapter 3.2.2, due to the need for complex calibration before use, the use of the Powerwall
function is most suitable for a stationary HTC VIVE VR system.
The following steps are necessary before using the application:
1. Start pCon.planner PRO and the VR-Viewer plugin.
2. Go back to pCon.planner PRO and select the tab Powerwall within the Settings dialog.
Figure 35: “Settings” dialog “Powerwall”
4.4.1 Calibrating the Powerwall
The prerequisite for the use of the interactive Virtual Reality wall is the correct positioning of the HTC VIVE base
stations that should be found to the left and right of the Powerwall. In addition, ensure that the room calibration
from the SteamVR is also valid.

When calibrating the Powerwall, the following settings can be selected:
1. Mode: In addition to Mono (2D), Side-by-side and Top-down are available.
2. Viewport: Depending on your position in front of the Powerwall, you can set two important
parameters.
a. Height: For the optimum view of your planning, the viewing height will be measured from
the bottom edge of the Powerwall. Since the height of the viewers will vary, an average
value should be used.
b. Distance: This parameter determines the distances between you, or the viewer, and the
screen. A distance of 1 to 1.5 meters is ideal.
Once you have established all settings, you can save them using the Save Powerwall option.
Now you and all other users will be able to open and explore your planning in virtual environment, through the
headset or on a separate monitor.
