Introducing Primary Care Networks
31 January 2018 Primary Care Networks (PCNs) announced by NHS England based on evidenced models
Feb-May 2019 PCNs develop from the building blocks of GP practices to cover population of 30-50,000.
Each PCN develops a Network Agreement and appoints a Clinical Director
1 July 2019 19 PCNs covering Oxfordshire through a national template contract
PCNs offering coordinated Extended Hours Access
First year PCNs appointing clinical pharmacists and social prescribing link workers
Future From 2020/21 PCNs must collaborate with non-GP providers through their Network Agreement.

Ongoing development
NHS Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (OCCG) holds contracts with all 19 PCNs
OCCG and partners have arranged development activities for PCN teams, including joint working with community services
OCCG is working with the County Council to gather and present data to support PCNs in understanding and planning for local needs
Community and patient engagement in development – varying approaches to reflect local opportunities
HealthWatch Oxfordshire have initiated the Oxfordshire Wellbeing Network
OCCG developing arrangements to enable PCNs to engage in health and social care planning across Oxfordshire and Thames Valley.
