Factory Visits 2004

Porsche Club Japan, April 2004Impressions of the Porsche Travel Club tour through the Black Forest and the Rhine valley.The presentation of the Carrera GT was the highlight for guests during the test drives on the testing track in Weissach.

The Porsche Club Coordination arranged more than 20 factory visits again this year. Porsche Clubs from all over the worldhave experienced some eventful days in Zuffenhausen, Weissach and Leipzig and captured the best moments on film, asyou can see for yourself in the selection of photographs we have compiled for you below.

Many Porsche Clubs once again took the opportunity to combine their factory visit with a tour organised by the PorscheTravel Club – either an individually tailored tour in Porsche vehicles or one of the numerous trips available in the currentPorsche Driving Experience brochure. These tours are particularly interesting for overseas Porsche Clubs, as discover-ing other European countries in a Porsche is doubly enjoyable!

The factory tours for 2005 are already fully booked, but we are happy to accept your reservations for 2006. If you areinterested in enhancing your factory visit in 2005 or 2006 with a Porsche Travel Club tour, our colleagues will be happyto help you.

Precision 911 – Launch of the New Porsche 911 in Great Britain

The launch of the new Porsche 911 inthe British market saw the PorscheClub Great Britain and Porsche CarsGreat Britain successfully workinghand in hand. From 13th to 18th September, the Club supported the initiative by 29 Porsche Centres thatwanted to mark the launch of the Type997 by arranging an exhibition of pre-vious models. The Porsche Club GreatBritain was on hand everywhere and

provided 134 vehicles for the exhibi-tions, which could be seen in England,Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the Chan-nel Islands.

Guests at the events appeared to becompletely captivated by the impres-sively presented career of the classicsports car over more than 40 yearsand by the most recent stage in itsevolution. “More than 7,000 people

enjoyed a great afternoon, got to seethe new 911 in fitting surroundings andexperienced the combination of histo-ry and owner's pride that makes the911 the world's most popular sportscar” reported Geoff Turral, GeneralManager, Marketing at Porsche CarsGreat Britain.

The President of the Club, David Newton, also felt that the initiative wasvery positive: “This co-operative effortshowed the relationship betweenPorsche and the Club at its very best.The regions managed to strengthentheir relationships with the localPorsche Centres and at the same timeour Club was presented to a huge newaudience.”

There is little doubt that the launch ofthe new Boxster will also be a joint project.

Trip to Trentino

The Porsche Club Isartal-München hadselected the attractive scenery ofTrentino as the destination for its three-day summer tour. A convoy of 14Porsches set off for Trento where the 26 participating Club membersstopped for a tour of the provincialcapital before continuing to Riva delGarda, where they all settled into the“Hotel Du Lac et Du Parc Quartier”.The five-star establishment offeredoutstanding comfort in unique scenicsurroundings and is highly recom-mended to everyone visiting theregion.

The next day’s excursion took thegroup to Madonna di Campiglio, wherethe itinerary included a trip on the cablecar up the 2,500 metre Grosté. Thatwas a wonderful experience. The tourthen continued through the Brentarange via Malé and Cles. The pictur-esque Lake Molveno is another of thescenic highlights of the region: every-one was amazed by the view of theazure blue lake with the mountains inthe background.

Awaiting the travellers in the eveningwas a coach transfer to a wine and grappa tasting session at thePisoni vintners, a family company in Pergolese. Before setting off for homethe following morning, the Porschesassembled in front of the hotel for asouvenir photograph – an attractivescene that was certainly appreciatedby the other guests.

Before that, everyone enjoyed a var-ied day, listening to a range of pre-sentations, enjoying culinary delightsand casting a look back over theevents of the 20 years of the Club in aslide show by Club President WolfgangRampf – from the very first trips andsporting competitions to a very spe-cial event from last year: the acquisi-tion of a Club sport car. An anniversarycake featuring the Club logo broughtthe successful day to a sweet conclu-sion.

Driver Training inMagny Cours

To mark the “Mondial de l’Automobile”exhibition in Paris, Porsche Franceindulged the French Club Presidentsby offering them an extraordinarypackage. The programme included anexclusive visit to the Porsche exhibi-tion stand before the exhibition wasopened, including breakfast on site, aCayenne transfer from the exhibitionhalls to the airport, a helicopter trans-fer to the racetrack at Mortefontaineand the opportunity to ride as a pas-senger in a yellow Carrera GT. The vehi-cles were driven by the official Porschedrivers Romain Dumas, Emmanuel Collard and Sascha Maasen. The eventsaw a new speed record set for thetrack – 323 km/h! The Presidents thenhad the chance to test drive the newPorsche 997 themselves.

The Presidents’ excitement was unmistakable, for example Jean-PaulGrimbert from the Porsche Club 914France: “While I was waiting at the edgeof the track, a Carrera GT drove rightpast me at 300 km/h – what a show!Thank you so much to the team atPorsche France for giving us this unforgettable day.”

For the Porsche Club Seetal Luzern’ssecond driver training event of thisyear, more than 40 drivers made theirway to the Formula 1 circuit at MagnyCours/Nevers on 25th and 26thAugust to refine their driving skillsunder the guidance of event managerHeinz Arnold. After being divided intogroups, they first of all drove a fewlaps following an instructor from thePorsche Club Seetal Luzern RacingTeam, which gave the participants aquick introduction to the ideal line andthe braking, turn-in and top points.Then it was time for free driving.

The following day once again focusedon driving on the circuit. Everyone’senthusiasm for the event was clearlydemonstrated by the participants’ lively discussions during aperitifs anddinner at the hotel. Our Club member,Martin Kammerbauer, made an out-standing job of organising the event,which was also generously supportedby a number of sponsors.
