Spotlight on STEM!
In Fairview’s STEM Lab, students work together to learn and solve problems using science, technology, engineering and math.
Sensory Bottles
During the week of April 1-5, students in STEM lab honored Autism Awareness Week by hearing the story The Girl Who Thought In
Pictures, the true story of Dr. Temple Grandin. Dr. Grandin was born with autism. As a young girl, she developed compassion for animals. She studied and become an animal scientist. She travels the world speaking
about compassionate animal care and educating people about autism. STEM lab students then created a sensory calm down bottle for each classroom with supplies donated from Fairview parents. Students will
be able to use these bottles in their own classroom. The bottles offer a calming effect for students as they watch the items inside gently fall
from the top to the bottom of the bottle.
Students had a blast working together on this project!
