For this project…….. •Students learned about the Swiss born artist, Paul Klee. •Students Identified the shapes and colors within his work. •Students were able to use building blocks to build castles of their own. •Students created castles and a sun using blocks, using new concepts like structural balance they made sure to use the shapes from the bottom of the paper and working their way up almost like they were building it brick by brick. •Students were introduced to warm and cool color families. •Students added either cool or warm colors to their pictures. •Students learned ways to create shapes out of paper without drawing: like folding the paper, or cutting two pieces at a time to embellish the border of their work in various shapes like rectangles, squares, circles, triangles, etc. CONTENT STANDARDS ADDRESSED: I. Students will understand, select, and apply media, techniques and processes. II. Students will understand and apply elements and organizational principles. VI. Students will make connections between visual arts, other disciplines, and daily life.
