As one of the UK‟s leading acoustic consultancies, we have been responsible for a large number of high quality auditoria with excellent acoustics. The practice began in 1984, Paul Gillieron has worked as an acoustic consultant since 1966 and with Arup Acoustics from 1980 - 84. We offer a wide range of expert acoustic advice to Architects, Engineers and Developers on building acoustics, noise and vibration control and sound system design. Specialist areas include rebuilding theatres and auditoria (>> below), refurbishment of Victorian Theatres (++) below, new theatres, computer aided recording studio and auditorium design (using CATT software), resiliently mounted structures and buildings, long term noise and vibration monitoring, environmental acoustic design and the design of very low noise air systems. We produce buildings of the highest technical quality, in a busy and friendly atmosphere, using modern, computer aided design methods. We are responsible for all aspects of acoustic design, from discussions with Clients and Architects, environmental measurements, establishment of a detailed acoustic brief, design development and the creation of a detailed design which fulfils the Clients aspirations. We attend meetings on demand and make regular site inspections and measurements, to make sure acoustic criteria are met in the finished building. We have completed 25 new theatres, 17 listed theatre conversions and many other auditoria. We believe we have a unique understanding of the needs of clients, performers, technical staff and audiences. Since 1995, we have been involved in a number of large, lottery funded arts projects. Tim Scott, a graduate in Audio Technology from the University of Salford, joined in 1998. Nick Gillieron, an architect with audio visual technology experience, joined us in 2004. Lucie Zalberg, MSc graduate in Architectural Acoustics from Paris 6, joined in 2008. Moving to a new premises on Brixton Hill in 1995, we have created a complex of recording studios, multi media and dance studios, leased to local community arts groups – BRIXTON ART SPACE. We have a 3D sound studio in Brixton, for composition and manipulation of sound in three dimensions in Ambisonic, Dolby or 5.1 formats, using a Lake HURON real time processor and 3D

m spatial

manipulation software. We incorporate a consultancy, surroundAV which designs 3D sound and digital imaging/manipulation for art installations, museum exhibits and large scale performances. 3DAudioScape software was launched in June 07 at the Prague Quadrennial SCENOFEST. www.pgacoustics.org www.surroundAV.org www.3DAudioScape.org

Jacob Street Studios, London's largest film studio complex, on a 3.25 acre riverside site, was created out of a former dog biscuit factory in 1983. The producer of a music video for the J. Giles Band used it as a location and suggested there would be a demand for such a facility. What started as a temporary 'meanwhile use' was so successful that it continued for the next eleven years, until 1994, often fully booked for months at a time “Jacob Street Studios have already established a reputation as one of the most popular film studios in the UK” Screen International We carried out acoustic tests on sound breakin and reverberation to provide appropriate acoustic conditions for film and TV. The spaces were acoustically modified in stages from 1984.

BLACK ISLAND STUDIOS W3 1997 Black Island Studios is Central London's largest film and television studio complex offering six stages, all with excellent facilities including drive-in access, cycs, motion control rigs, lighting facilities and on-site catering. New spaces were constructed with high sound insulation and acoustic treatment in 1997.
