As a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. DeFrino has experience in the treatment of complex foot and ankle conditions including: Achilles tendinitis/ rupture, calcaneal fractures, forefoot deformities, ligament repair, plantar fasciitis, reconstruction following acute trauma or complex fractures, stress injury, tarsal tunnel syndrome, wound care, etc. He is one of a handful of surgeons in the Chicago region performing ankle replacement for advanced arthritis. His primary focus is to restore foot and ankle health utilizing advanced techniques and treatment options. Dr. DeFrino came to Parkview Orthopaedic Group following a Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Baylor University in Dallas, Texas. He earned his Medical Degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine where he also completed his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. DeFrino serves as an attending surgeon at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Palos Community Hospital. He is an Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and University of Illinois. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
