DONATIONS TO THE PHILIPPINES
Prep A and 2A have been contributing donations towards a charity organisation called Shellsocial which began four years ago in Dubai as a way for Rashelle Leahy, one of our parents, to give back to the Filipino community.
Rashelle started by collecting second hand kids and baby clothes and shipping them to volunteers in Al Bataan. Shellsocial now supports 9 areas and has 15 volunteers across 3 countries. They run various initiatives throughout the year to provide much needed educational supplies and day to day items to the people in remote villages. "We are always grateful of community support. I think it’s worked so well as 100% of any donations actually get to the people who need it. There is no middle man." (Rashelle Leahy).
Through funds raised by our Junior School Council the school has now committed to shipping 4 boxes of school supplies and goods to Bicol, Al Bataan and Camarin in the Philippines. The Patterson Lakes community is looking forward to continuing their support of Shellsocial in the future. Thank you to students in Prep A and 2A who have been learning about charity and donated many items to the cause.
STAFFING NEWS
Over the past four weeks three of our staff members have had additions to their families.
On the 30th April, Amber Ryan and her husband Daniel had their first child who they named Liam.
On the 12th May, Hannah Hunt and her husband Jarrod had their second child, Annie Jane, a sister for Hudson.
This week, on Tuesday, 24th May, Meaghan Bainbridge and her husband Jarrod also welcomed a second daughter into their family, Eliza Teresa, a sister for Eve.
Congratulations to our three staff members on the arrival of the new members of their families.
EVACUATION DRILL
Yesterday our school held a practice Evacuation Drill for all staff and students. We practise this process so that our staff and students are prepared if we have to evacuate our premises if the need arises. Each practice provides the school with valuable feedback to ensure that best procedures are adhered to. We were very pleased with the way the students conducted themselves as they made their way to the evacuation assembly area.

TUESDAY 17TH MAY 2016TUESDAY 17TH MAY 2016TUESDAY 17TH MAY 2016
Last Friday, Patto participated at the Districts Cross Country at Cornish College. A total of 60 students from Years 3-6 represented our school. We had some impressive results with half of our team making the top 10 and going onto the next level at Divisions. It was great to see students supporting one another as the 2km and 3km course was very difficult and the level of competition was very high. Thanks to Miss Conway, Mrs Laughlin and Mr Penney for helping out and to all parents who supported our kids on the day. Division Cross Country will be held next Wednesday 1st June at Cornish College.
