Patrick Janot
Experimental Studies: A. Blondel, P. Janotu Study the properties of the Higgs and other particles with
unprecedented precision
u Develop the necessary tools Understand the experimental conditions
u Set constraints on the possible detector designs to match statistical precision

Phenomenology Studies: ongoing …
Phenomenology Studies: J. Ellis, C. Grojeanu Set up a long-term programme to match theory predictions to
experimental precisions
u Understand how new physics would show up in precision measurements, and in searches for rare decays (Z, W, t, H, b, c, t, …) and rare processes
u Set up the framework for global fits and understand the complementarity with other colliders (LHC, FCC-hh, in particular)

What do we do now ? (1) By the time of the next general workshop / review in
Spring 2015u Get organized in your working group
l Identify the work areas in your group and set priorities – for example
è Review the event generators (or software) needed for your group
è Review the sources of background (physics, machine, …)è Review benchmark analyses/studies to serve a detector
performance probeè Review what can be done with DELPHES, and what can’tè Review your needs in terms of software (framework,
analysis tools, …)See the presentation of Benedikt Hegner today
è Review benchmark (known) detectors for early full simulations toward performance benchmarking
l Identify and recruit people to work in your groupè The existing mailing lists are only a starting pointè Use your network to populate the lists
And always ask the newly recruited people to subscribe to the FCC-ee study (you can also do it yourself on their behalf)
è It is your responsibility to find (a) co-convener(s) and a successor
Staying in touch with Alain and myself, of course

What do we do now ? (2) By the time of the next general workshop / review in
Spring 2015 (cont’d)u Document your progress regularly
l On the web site, for public or general information:è https://cern.ch/fcc-ee
See the presentation of Cristina Martin Perez todayl On the FCC twiki – being set up – for more technical
information: è https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/FCC/WebHome
You may not have access rights yet – be patientl In Authorea, for the written reviews
è https://www.authorea.comCheck it out, and use it with your working group fellows
u Get the work started in view ofl Getting a rather precise idea of the desired detector
performance (and ways to get this performance) by the end of 2014
l Putting all tools in place to be able to confirm the physics case of the “First look” and to extend it significantly
l Associating the Linear Collider proponents in a synergetic impulse
è Actually most of the initial work can use the Linear Collider earlier work

What do we do now ? (3) Reminder: at the end of the convener job description,
we read
u It would be instrumental to have a first draft of this document ready by May 15th
l So that discussion and fine tuning take placeè The work areas, specific tasks, priorities, etc. can then go
the your twiki for people to know what they can do for FCC-ee
u It would be definitely very useful to have an almost final version by the next workshop

u See poster proposal by Cristinau Suggestions for speakers and talks related to your working group
are most welcomeu Save the date and register !
l https://indico.cern.ch/event/313708/ Monthly Physics meetings
u To make them more useful, the agenda of these meetings should be filled
l Either with the work done in the working groupsl Or with review speakers that’ll serve the work we have to do
è Your pro-active input is needed Next meeting scheduled for 19 May, 3 – 5 pm
Working group meetingsu You have your working group indico:
l Projects → FCC → Physics and Experiments → Lepton Collider Physics & Expts
è Meetings will appear automatically on your FCC-ee web page
