• Creating web sites since 1998 – Web Site Design and Development – User Interface Design – Front End Development in HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL – Database Interaction – Internal and External Search Engine Optimization – Graphics – Copywriting – Content Management – Website Analytics
Website: AcmeWidget • The following describes portions of a web application
that I am currently creating, which allows a company to enter its products into a database, and then displayed online to customers.
• Customers can select products, save them to their account, and request more information about the products.
• The application is written in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL and ASP.
• The site is not yet posted to the public for demo purposes due to proprietary information.
• Please call for a live demonstration.
The home page contains an overview of the company services, and a list of the newest products and services generated from the database. The third column of the page provides quick links to common pages. The header includes a pull down menu written in CSS. The main objective for navigating this site is for the user to reach the information they are seeking with no more than 3 clicks. The MySQL database contains numerous tables which include product data and customer information.
There are many forms within the website which include inline validation written in JavaScript. Here is a form for users to sign up for an account. All fields with an asterisk are required. If the user goes on to the next field without entering information, a message appears indicating that they need to fill in the field.
Users can search the database for products by inputting specific criteria.
The Product Search form changes depending on the Category radio button selected.
The results above were generated by selecting Category 1, and choosing “Accounting” from the Business Function drop-down box. Users can click on a Product Number to display all of the details of the product.

Website: Falkcorp.com
• I maintained the website for Falk Corporation (acquired by Rexnord) for about 10 years.
• The site went through three redesigns during my tenure there.
• Home Page for the first site design
• Secondary page for the first site design
• Third level page for the first site design
• This is the first redesign the Falk website. The artwork for the main page was created by an outside advertising firm. I produced the web version of the home page with only a tiff image file provided by the vendor.
• I added code to detect the monitor size that was being used to browse the site, and redirected the user to either an 800x600, 1024x720, or 1024x720 window size.
• Pull-down menus for this site were coded in Javascript. • I created a template for the secondary pages and used framesets for the header
and the side bar menu. • The navigation was structured with the objective that the end user could get to
the information they were looking for within 3 clicks.
• Because the site was designed for various monitor sizes, I made the text responsive so that it would automatically wrap when the window was resized instead of remaining static.
• I added a search feature to the site so that customers could find information faster.
• The next redesign occurred after Rexnord acquired Falk Corporation. We had to combine Falk’s products and services with Rexnord’s, so we added tabs to the top of the menu hierarchy.
• We moved the search feature to the front page and added a link to the site map. • I eliminated all framesets and used include statements to generate the header,
footer, menus, sidebars on each page.
• Once the user selected a tab from the top menu, a secondary page would appear including a pull-down menu that was associated with the tab selection.
• Third level pages included a side navigation bar on the left with links that were associated with the product.
• I also added breadcrumbs so that users could step back through the website hierarchy.
