Daddy Yankee

He was born as Raymond Ayala; Yankee began his musical career from the ground up, selling mixed tapes from his car and improvising to the beats laid out by popular DJs. He was one of the founders of a completely new genre that by his beginning was very criticized but now it is probably the main genre in Latin America.

“We would do hip hop and the Puerto Rican DJs would play a vinyl with hip hop on one side, and a vinyl with reggae and dancehall on the other, they played them together and do a remix. And we would rap over the beats.” (Daddy Yankee, 2010)

I admire Daddy Yankee not only because his accomplishments as an artist but because he has maintain humble and trying to help people, he has a foundation that helps people that were in Jail, trying to help them and join them to the society. His perseverance and discipline have made of him a model for many young and old people. He has an incredible business visionary, he has launch products such as El Cartel Tequila or his men’s and women’s fragrance taking advantage of the amount of fans he has; this products have become an incredible success, moreover he has been an innovator because in all the products above he was the first Latin Artist to introduce them, serving as a model for other big artists to follow his variety in business.

Raymond Ayala has shown the world that if you dream and work hard for your dreams you can accomplish whatever you want, he raised in a Puerto Rican housing project. He is not the typical polemic artist that wants to make news without looking to the quality of that news; he is always looking forward and trying to take the genre to the next level, characterizing it for the evolution.
