    FLORAL DEPARTMENT: Are you celebrating a birthday, anniversary, promotion or just feel like

    beautifying the church? If so, why not show your appreciation to God by

    giving a floral arrangement or live plant to enrich the sanctuary. May God

    continue to bless each one as you contemplate giving. Interested persons can

    contact Sisters Avril Sullivan at telephone #323-7734, or Lathera Knowles.

    TEN TIMES FOR SILENCE

    1. Keep silent unless you have something to say worth saying.

    2. Keep silent when you have said enough.

    3. Keep silent until it is your turn to talk.

    4. Keep silent when you are provoked.

    5. Keep silent when you are tempted to be irritable.

    6. Keep silent as you enter church, so God can speak to you.

    7. Keep silent as you leave church, so the Holy Spirit can impress upon your memory the things you have heard.

    8. Keep silent when you are tempted to gossip

    9. Keep silent when you are tempted to criticize.

    10. Keep silent long enough to think before you speak.

    Happy Sabbath! Welcome and Happy Sabbath to everyone! Today is a day of new beginnings. This is the first Sabbath and the second day in the new year. What a joy it is to be alive and worshipping together on this lovely day. We welcome all our family members, visitors and friends. You have come to receive a blessing. If you are

    worshipping with us for the first time we ask you to fill out one of our Visitor’s Card. If you desire to make Grant’s Town Seventh-day Adventist Church your home church then let us know on the card. If you would like a visit from the pastor or church elder kindly let us know. Today, my sermon text is taken from Lamentations 3:23-24. It says “They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” The verses before set the context and should be an encouragement for us today. Verse 21 to 22 states: “Remember my affliction and roaming, The wormwood and the gall. My soul still remembers and sinks within me. 21 This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope.” It is great to wake up each morning with the hope that is there something great for me today. For the Christian, we have this new beginning with Jesus everyday. It rejuvinates. Here is a lovely poem by Helen Steiner Rice:

    “How often we wish for another chance to make a fresh beginning. A chance to blot out our mistakes and change failure into winning. It does not take a new day to make a brand new start, It only takes a deep desire to try with all our heart. To live a little better and to always be forgiving And to add a little sunshine to the world in which we're living. So never give up in despair and think that you are through, For there's always a tomorrow and the hope of starting new.”

  • Shout to the Lord

    Darlene Zschech, 1993

    My Jesus, my Saviour Lord there is none like You All of my days I want to praise The wonders of Your mighty love My comfort, my shelter Tower of refuge and strength Let every breath, all that I am Never cease to worship You

    Shout to the Lord all the Earth, let us sing Power and majesty, praise to the King

    Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of Your name

    I sing for joy at the work of Your hand Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand Nothing compares to the promise I have Nothing compares to the promise I have

    Nothing compares to the promise I have in You

    New Every Morning is The Love

    John Keble, 1822

    New every morning is the love Our wakening and uprising prove;

    Through sleep and darkness safely brought,

    restored to life, and power, and thought.

    New mercies, each returning day, hover around us while we pray, --

    new perils past, new sins forgiven

    new thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven.

    If, on our daily course, our mind be set to hallow all we find,

    new treasures still, of countless price, God will provide for sacrifice.

    he trivial round, the common task,

    Prepare, O Lord, in your dear love, for perfect life with you above;

    and help us, this and every day, to live more nearly as we pray.
