From the Pastor

We have prayed this week for Voca-

tions—following God’s call each day of

our lives. Some of us have lived a call

for many years—whether to Marriage,

Priesthood, Single or Religious life. Some are dis-

cerning one of those callings even now. Ezra Lippert

has been with us for almost 6 months during his jour-

ney of discernment about the priestly calling. We

have a chance this weekend to hear him, and our

prayers are with him. May each of us continue to

strengthen ourselves in responding to God’s call.

Peace,

Father John

PEACE THROUGH PLANNING: Experience “Peace through Planning”

Death comes to each of us. Often we have very little fore-

warning or control over the circumstances of our dying.

Planning for these end times is a gentle way of being sup-

portive of our loved ones who, while grieving our dying,

must also try to make a peaceful, orderly, and spiritual

transition to living without us.

If you or a loved one are facing final illness, death, and

funeral planning, or you just want to prepare for that un-

known day when you will be called home, ease the bur-

den by picking up a “Peace through Planning” booklet.

This guide is available at any time in the parish office and

is designed to make the planning for end times a logical

step in the life of a responsible and caring adult.

LOW-GLUTEN COMMUNION: If you must main-

tain a low-gluten diet, we offer a low-gluten consecrated

host for communion. Follow the communion procession

line where you see the Minister wearing “LOW-

GLUTEN” necklace (in front of ambo/lectern).

DIFFICULTY APPROACHING THE ALTAR: If you

or someone you know has difficulty approaching the altar

to receive communion, please notify an usher as he/she

assists those in your row to the communion procession. A

Minister of Holy Communion will be happy to come to

you with the Eucharist.

hearing at Mass? Contact an Usher before mass to arrange

THANKSGIVING BASKETS

Our parish has been very generous in donating food to

families in need at Thanksgiving. Your generosity is

appreciated! But did you know…

*We struggle to identify those families with needs…

perhaps because pride prevents them from admitting their

need for help. As a result, a majority of the food that is

donated to us at Thanksgiving is given to Echo Food Shelf.

*We are also aware of other local organizations that also

provide food baskets at Thanksgiving. Other churches,

Loyola School and Echo Food Shelf are some examples.

*Our faith calls us to help those in need, and we don’t

want to stop that generous giving from happening.

*We have been successful building collaboration and work-

ing together to accomplish things. An example is our Con-

nections Ministry, where we partner with members of the

Episcopal church across the street from us to help the

homeless. Because of that success, we are able to do more.

*Parishioner Jane Kohler is a Board Member of the Echo

Food Shelf. Through discussions, a decision has been made

to partner with the Echo Food Shelf to provide Thanks-

giving Baskets to those families in need, not only in our

parish, but in the greater community as well.

*We ask you to continue to be a generous giver and bring

your food donations to our church. We will remain a col-

lection site. Any family who needs help at Thanksgiving

with food needs can contact the parish office or the Echo

Food Shelf. People wishing to volunteer their time for this

effort are asked to contact Mike Logeais in the parish of-

fice. ECHO's Thanksgiving program runs from November

18-22.
