Dear Friends,

We live in a world where there is a circle of fear. We often hear this joke about the web of fear, which says, Cockroaches fear Rats; Rats fear Cats; Cats fear Dogs; Dogs fear Men; Men fear Women and Women Fear Cockroaches.

The people who lived in the days of prophet Jeremi-ah suffered from Alethephobia, which is the fear of truth. They wanted to get rid of truth by eliminating Jeremiah the messenger of truth. They made every effort to intimidate him and so he exclaimed, “Terror on every side” (Jeremiah 20:10).

“Terror on every side” in one way suits today’s situ-ation. Fear on every side because of Covid-19. It is an unnecessary and unexpected fear on humanity. We are facing it and we have to.

We fear a lot: Fear for life and death; fear for truth; fear for fellow human and race; fear of inorganic foods; and so on. We fear a lot and we are called to overcome this fear.

Jesus warned his disciples ahead of time to know that the world will oppose, mistreat, persecute, sus-pect, reject and intimidate them. But he told them to be courageous, bold and fear no one (Matthew 10:26).

Jesus knows we are often frozen in fear, believing that our enemies, detractors and those who wish us harm would eliminate us. But let us be strong be-cause God says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you” (Deut 31:6).

Be Strong and Fear no one but God,

Fr. Antony Joseph 608-881-1401

Next Week, we are having First Holy Commun-ion for our children. I request the parents to be ready and if you have any concerns, kindly call me or office.

COMMUNICATION TO ALL

We will be open for people following the guidelines of the Dioceses of La Crosse. There will be a team of Ushers who will be here to help us. Only the main doors will be open. Ushers will seat you in a pew to help with social distancing. At communion the ushers will let the rows go out one by one and only Father will be giving the Eucharist. There will be no collection, but a basket will be at the entrance and you can put your envelope in before or after Mass. The ushers will let the pews out after Mass.

The Bishop has highlighted that the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays remains dispensed. No one is required, under the pain of mortal sin, to attend Mass until further notice. In fact, at this time he encourage those over 65 and particularly those with underlying health issues to stay home. He ask those parishes that have the ability to livestream the Mass to continue do so for the sake of those who will not be able to attend.
