diary of a jobless manAs you will have read in the Epic bowl jam article in Issue 6 I broke my fibula just above my right ankle. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse I rang up work to tell them I wouldn’t be in for a while and they said don’t bother coming back! So now with a broken leg and jobless I needed to get some money from somewhere so I thought it would be a simple case

of signing on…… but like most things in my life it’s never that easy.As you will have read in Issue 5 I spent some time in Australia with Fi and that leads me to the next chapter in my story I had to prove that I was English in order to claim benefits! I couldn’t believe it I had a broken leg, lost my job and was going to be deported!

Well I managed to prove I was a genuine u.k resident so to celebrate being allowed to stay in the country I was born in I used my unemployed time to take some photos while my leg healed. It became part of my physiotherapy walking down the park to take photos and then as my leg got stronger I was able to drive again and travel to shoot photos. They say things come in threes and hopefully that’s all my drama for the year, I’ll keep you posted.

Well I guess it’s that time of year again, when all those soggy, wet and dull days over winter, in the woods, are paying off. Well atleast they would be if it wasn’t raining so much. Whilst you’re waiting for the woods to dry up, here’s a few pictures from a few spots, spots where the hardworking few have been busy and then reaping their rewards.......enjoy...

what made you start taking pictures? My Grandad has been into photography forever and as a kid he always made sure I had a camera and told me all about them. I didn’t get it to start with, being young and that. But all the stuff he once told me I started to understand over the years. He’s always passed

old cameras down to me and I still use them to this day.

Who or what inspires you? My main inspiration is my surroundings, I love to go explore little places, get a lift here and there to find new things, I’m par-ticularly interested in people to, just doing what they do everyday, makes very interesting photographs. As regards to photographers, I’m a big fan of the work of Ruth Orkin, Father Browne, Martin Amis and Ricky Adam. I like UK documentary photography mostly.

what equipment do you use?The equipment I carry everywhere is Nikon F100 with 50mm 1.8, 24mm 2.8 and Nikon SB24. I also use Pentax Z10 with 28-80, 120-300mm and Olympus OM10 occasionally. Digital wise Nikon d70, 10.5mm Fisheye, 18-70, 24mm macro and sb600 flashes. Sekonic L308s light meter. Pol and warm up filters. I got a big collection of old cameras etc.
