Already two meetings have been held, with the next one planned for Monday 30 th April (Week 2) at 9:00am in the staffroom. Come along and get involved – the goal is for mutual support with a bit of fundraising thrown in for good measure! Staffing news Next term will bring Julie Bonfield to Passfield Park School as a SLSO. Julie is currently at Les Powell School and is very excited by her transfer here to Passfield Park School. I am sure many will recognise her, as she drove one of our taxis to and from school. We are all very saddened to lose Belinda Stiebel from the school at the end of term. Belinda has been a teacher here since 2000, and has been invaluable to the school with her knowledge in technology and computers, as a great classroom teacher and as a relieving assistant principal. Belinda leaves us to start with a new challenge closer to home and we wish her all the best. I would also like to thank her for her terrific support and for sharing her wealth of knowledge with all her colleagues. Change of Staff Development Day We have received permission to change our Term 2 staff development day from Monday 23 rd April to Wednesday, 6 th June. All students should attend school on the first Monday of the term, taxis will pick up the students as usual. On Wednesday 6 th June, the teachers will be attending a conference in Parramatta, whilst the teacher‘s aides (SLSOs) and office staff will attend professional learning days in Campbelltown. Many thanks for supporting these great learning opportunities for our staff. Happy Holidays Finally, do have a safe and happy break – don‘t eat too much chocolate (is there ever too much chocolate?!). We look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday, 23 rd April. Bowling Brilliance from Green Class

Term 1 has certainly gone fast with the stu-dents of White Class doing some fantastic work. For sport, we have been going bowling with students all achieving either strikes, spares or scoring over 100 points. Norm, Zane and De-nae have commenced special swimming scheme and are enjoying the swimming les-sons each day. In cooking this term, we have made fruit salad and are now making ham and salad wraps. The wraps are so delicious that even fussy eat-ers are eating a whole wrap and others are coming back for extras.

Fantastic Work from White Class

Sport has been a very popular activity this term in Green class with everyone enjoying our ten pin bowling session each Thursday. All students have shown improvement in their bowling skills, turn taking and following direc-tions. It has been wonderful to see the en-couragement the students give to each other and the excitement shared in their class-mates‘ achievements. We would like to thank Mrs Mathews for her assistance over the last few weeks. We hope you enjoy the holidays.

Red class has had a fabulous first term. For Sports, we had multiskills, playing team games with focus on body movements and balancing. We had fun playing ‗Mexican Wave‘ and ‗Shapes in Space‘. Next term, we have gymnastics and will participate in the Mini Paralympics. Students had a great time performing their assembly item on stage. They impressed their school mates and parents with near perfect coordination in movements and beautiful singing. They were applauded by one and all. Red class is working hard at developing their literacy and numeracy skills. Students enjoy participating in letter-sound songs and reading and writing activities. In maths, using counters is further building their understanding of ‗altogether‘ , ‗take away‘ and multiplication. In HSIE we are learning about our environment. Students enthusiastically cleared the school car park and the driveway of litter on Clean up Australia Day. We are also enjoying drawing our classroom lay out plan. Thanks to the parents who participated in their

child‘s IEP meeting. We will do the interviews for the rest of the students in the first half of Term 2. We wish all students and their parents and carers a safe and fulfilled autumn break.

Photographers in Blue

Blue class has been studying multimedia as part of our technology. Students have learnt how to use a digital camera and have practised taking shots around the school. Blue class has also had the responsibility of taking student of the week photos in our morning flag assembly (have a look at the pictures and see what you think!). Our swimming sessions for sport have now finished and we have planned to go bowling for sport next term. We have two birthdays in our class this week, Kaati turned 14 last Sunday and Taylor turns 14 this weekend. We are going to celebrate by having a party. Happy Birthday lads! We continue our canteen program and would like to thank everyone for their support. Next term we will change to the winter menu, offering party pies and sausage rolls instead of ice blocks, frozen oranges and jelly. We wish you all a safe and happy Easter and look forward to seeing you back next term. Regards,

Mat, Michele, Rob and Lesley

Ants in the Apple for P P Pink Class It has been exciting and very satisfying working with Pink Class this term, as we have seen each student settle into school routine so well and make great progress. All students are working well in class and completing required work with various degrees of assistance. Some love sing-ing the letter and sound rhymes for the ―Ants in the Apple‖ program, others really enjoy number songs and activities presented on the Smart-board. Gymnastics has been a valuable activity for im-proving confidence, balance, co-ordination and gross motor skills and we will continue going to Yotala Gym for Kindy Gym next term. At present, students are developing their skills and improving their water confidence through the nine day Swimming Scheme program. We hope all students and their families have a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to another

happy and productive term next term.

A Race to the end of term for Purple Class

The football season has started and that means it‘s footy tipping time. This year we have all the high school classes involved again and a lot of staff all striving to be the top tipper. After 3 rounds, Denae is in front with 34 points and Hala is close behind on 32 points with Joe S, Zane, Taylor and Joe R all on 30 points. At mini-golf in Week 6 Joe R and Daniel tied for the lead with Jessica and Rhys only one point behind. In our final week Farabi came out in front again, followed by Joe R. Our overall golfing champion was Joe R. Congratulations Joe. R, Daniel and Farabi who represented our school at the combined swimming carnival at Cabarita last week and did well in their races. Hala, Jeremy,

Andrew and Farabi are participating in swimming scheme and already making great progress. Andrew, Jeremy, Jessica and Guemil have been working hard each Wednesday at work experience, building a garden bed at Lomandra School. We all had a lovely time with White Class at the Pizza hut celebrating Rhys‘ 18th birthday. Next week Purple Class will celebrate Guemil‘s 18th birthday with a bowling party. Then on Thursday we are off to the Easter Show for an exciting end to term. We hope you all have a restful and happy holiday.

The end of Term 1 already! It has been a very busy term for the students and us— setting up and learning new routines and being in a different class for many of us. It is great to see the stu-dents in the playground playing appropriately and enjoying each others company. The students have all worked hard and are enjoying their units of work on the Five Senses and Environment. The activities on the interactive whiteboard are very popular with the class and they really look forward to this part of the lessons. Zucchini muffins have been popular with many of the students and all have had a go at grating, measuring the ingredients, sifting, cracking eggs, stirring and then spooning the mix into the muffin cases. They smell delicious while baking and the students have shared the leftover muffins with Yellow Class who also enjoy them. Please re-

member to send $2.00 each week to help cover costs for this part of our program. Next term we will be going to the Sarah Redfern Public School tuckshop each week to practice and extend our choice making and money pro-grams. Bowling will be our sport for next term be-ginning in Week 3. A note will be sent home shortly regarding this. Swimming has been a very calming and relaxing activity this term and all had a wonderful time at the pool. Currently, Orange Class are having swimming lessons each day and there has al-ready been improvements in water and swim-ming skills for many.

We hope you all enjoy a happy and safe holiday period with your children and we look forward to

seeing you all next term. Belinda and Naiomi

Silver class have been very busy in their classroom! They have been doing lots of art and crafts making models and dioramas of frog lifecycles. They have created paper plate faces and body outlines showing recognition of their appearance and their identity. We went on an excursion to Hungry Jacks to have a 5

th birthday party for Daniel. The

students coloured in some stencils, played pass the parcel, had face paint-ing and had lunch and some yummy birthday cake. It was great fun!! Silver class have been enjoying their swimming les-sons at Bradbury and are starting to show off their new skills.
