The Church is the Bride of Christ

• A bride (wife) and groom (husband) are two separate people that become united together in the covenant of marriage.

• Sexual Intercourse is a physical example of what happens spiritually in marriage.

• A bride and groom give up their individual lives to get married

• In the same way, Jesus gave up his life for us, the Church

The Covenant with Noah

God’s covenant with Noah is also with all humankind and creation.

“Never again shall all bodily creatures be destroyed by the waters of a flood” (Genesis 9:11)

God commits to saving humanity by a different way than destroying all sinners.

The Abrahamic Covenant

God and Abraham entered into a covenant, or sacred promise

Matriarch- The mother of a tribe, clan or tradition.

The Mosaic Covenant

Theophany- God renews the Covenant he made with Abraham with Moses on Mount Sinai

The Mosaic Covenant

Yahweh: The Israelites will

be God’s chosen people

Israelites: Must follow the 10 Commandments

The Commandments are also referred to as the Mosaic Law

From then on the Law and the Covenant are linked together

Torah is Hebrew for “law”
