Parvaneh Eskandari: (Born 1938, Assassinated 1998) was a poet, writer and political activist. She was one of the prominent members of Iranian Nation Party and former leader of student movement before the revolution. She was proponent of a democratic and independent Iran and supported the separation of state and religion, they felt that the Islamic Republic led to a concentration of power and made political reform difficult. Parvaneh Eskandari: (Born 1938, Assassinated 1998) was a poet, writer and political activist. She was one of the prominent members of Iranian Nation Party and former leader of student movement before the revolution. She was proponent of a democratic and independent Iran and supported the separation of state and religion, they felt that the Islamic Republic led to a concentration of power and made political reform difficult. Death: She was stabbed 25 times on the second floor of her home while she was very ill. She was 60 years old at the time of her death. Her death, afterward, declared by the Iranian government as part of a plan for assassination of opposition intellectuals in Iran. Her murderer, Saeed Emami, who was a senior agent on intelligence ministry suspiciously committed suicide before the trial. She had told human rightswatchdogsbased in New York: "We are living with the fear of being killed. Every night when we go to bed we thank God for His blessing of living for another day."
