Gingerbread House Decorating PartyOh SNAP Let’s Decorate! Inspired by red tartan plaid and buffalo check, which is hot this season, this Gin-gerbread House Decorating Party has it all from ginger bread houses, sweet treats, and a hot chocolate bar! When designing any event, I also start with the invitation and try to co-ordinate it with the theme. These Oh SNAP! Invitations with a gingerbread man are perfect for any holiday dec-orating party and have coordinating gift tags that were used for the tartan plaid mugs. I’ve always loved red and gold and mixing in buffalo check and tartan plaid makes this party festive and not too girly!

This party was a special day of fun for 3 sets of sisters, who are all friends. Edible Art Cake Shop hosts ginger-bread classes every holiday season and tailored their class especially for our party size and ages. Frozen songs played in the back-ground as the girls decorated their pre-constructed gingerbread hous-es wearing tutu and Santa Clause Christmas aprons. A few girls even taste tasted the yummy decorations! Once everyone finished designing their gingerbread house it was time enjoy sweet treats, which included cake pops, petite fours, chocolate truffles, gingerbread house cookies, sugar cookies with gingerbread men and Christmas trees, and Edible Art Cake Shop’s signature decorative cake, which is made out of pound cake!At each place setting was a glitter crown for the girls to wear and a cake favor. Since this is a kids par-ty we opted for a more casual look with personalized paper napkins and Melamine chargers and plates. Milk was served in Santa glassware with red and gold Christmas paper

straws, which had Catch Me If You Can straw flags. There was also a hot chocolate bar with mini marshmal-lows and candy cane bark. Each guest got to take home a mug, in addition to their mini cake party favor. The girls had a ball from decorating their gingerbread houses to singing and dancing, no one wanted to the fun to end! As guests got ready to go they placed their decorated gin-gerbread house in cute blue polka dot gable boxes to easily carry them home. Don’t be afraid to mix and match festive homedecor items when planning a holiday party! We used Christmas personalized ornaments, pillows and a blue herringbone throw to add a warm and personal touch. Also, Christmas is the one time of year where you can showcase your Christmas cards, so make sure you put them on display for everyone to enjoy! Additionally, easy seasonal plants and flowers make the best flower arrangements and add a pop of color. Another party planning tip is use what you have and buy a few new

items to make your party stand out! Can’t find the right color garland to add to you event design? Go ahead and design it yourself! We found gar-land in the tartan plaid we liked, but you can cut out the shape and trace it on any colored paper or wrapping paper to make a beautiful and unique garland!

Rustic Holiday Dessert TableAmongst all the holiday gatherings, one thing that is both expected and a must have is dessert. It is that time of year that we feel a little less guilty about giving in to our sweet desires. Why not treat (literally) your guests to a dessert display that is equally beautiful as it is delicious.

We love using natural elements in our designs to add texture and freshness. Bringing the outdoors in is always a part of decorating our own homes for the holidays. Traditional colors of red and green work well with a rustic theme. For our dessert table inspiration we used a weathered and framed sheet of metal as the backdrop softened by a fresh green wreath. Keeping in theme, wood holiday signage was used in different ways to share the joys of the season.

A variety of fabrics were incorporated throughout the design. Burlap is a natural and versatile choice which we used for the decorative trees, ribbons, and table draping. The table runner was made by layering real moss down the center of a burlap runner and adding a natural twine ornament with red burlap ribbon as a decorative element. Layering with the green and red plaid adds a pop of color and interest to the table. Holiday pillows add warmth, softness, and color.

Using seasonal flavors, the desserts were served on wood cake plates and tree slices. The naked caked adorned with fresh greenery is displayed on a carved wood pedestal. The peppermint chocolate truffles were accented with red burlap rib-

bon. Chocolate moose cups in mini glass bowls were topped with a rich and decadent dark chocolate pomegranate pista-chio bark. The pecan carmel cookies were as delicious as they look. Soft and buttery goodness. Cranberry is a must have during the holidays. Included on our dessert table was a cranberry pecan tart. Who doesn’t love apples dipped in some-thing sweet? Our apples were triple dipped in carmel, chocolate, and nuts.

Birds of A Feather Holiday Dinner TableFrom dinner to desserts, holiday celebrations are centered around creating sweet memories with families and friends. The holidays are a perfect time to use natural decor to deco-rate your home. There is just something about fresh green-ery. It brings warmth and earthy fragrances indoors.

For our dinner table, we brought the outdoors in and used fresh greenery including tree branches, sticks, leaves and pine cones too. To create the centerpiece, tree branches were used as the base to surround the weathered wood “Joy” sign. A birch rectangular flower vase was filled with sticks and leaves to add another layer to the decor. Burlap snowflakes, bells and brown feathered birds were hung from a miniature tree. Reindeer, birds, and pine cones were arranged around the sign to complete the centerpiece.

Incorporating other natural elements such as the grass place mats and wood chargers also add to the rustic design. We love the burlap cutlery pouches that have a bronze frame on top to personalized each place setting. Both green and brown napkins with burlap flower rings were used to add visual interest. If you do not have enough napkins of one color for all your guests, do not be afraid to mix them up. In this case the two colors blended and matched our theme.

To emphasize our birds of a feather theme, feather prints in gold frames were mounted on

a wood gate on the wall. Pillows with a feather print were added to the wood chairs. Brown feathered bird ornaments and a white bird house used as decorative ele-ments worked well to provide a cohesive design.
