The Learning ProgrammeOur dedicated three-day learning programme featured explosive shows, hands-on experiments and outreach events, to inspire young people and encourage them to get involved with STEMM.
Events were held at The Forum, OPEN Norwich, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich Cathedral, UTCN, Sir Isaac Newton, Norfolk Record Office and The Kinesis Centre, as well as outreach events that brought science fun to schools.
Our headline learning event, ‘Fireworks – Real Science or Just Bangs?’, engaged 857 school children, youth group members, home-educators and family members over four shows.

YOUNG COMMUNICATIONS TEAM
Norwich Science Festival (NSF) 2018 was the third city-wide science festival, featuring nine days of inspirational talks, sensational shows, cutting-edge research, and an abundance of hands-on science activities for
all ages and all levels of knowledge, plus a dedicated learning programme.
Norwich Science Festival 2018
Co-ordinated by The Forum and working with partners and venues across the city, the Festival built upon the successes of the previous two years, whilst striving to be innovative and respond to demand.
The overall theme for the 2018 Festival was ‘Our Future World’ and included events exploring topical issues such
as plastic pollution, the future of travel and artificial intelligence. Themed days included water/oceans, nature and the environment, physics, astronomy and space, engineering, technology, chemistry, medicine and health, and a day dedicated to the ground-breaking science from Norwich Research Park.
The successful Festival featured sold-out headline events from Chris Packham, Prof Alice Roberts, Maddie Moate, Gastronaut Stefan Gates, Mark Thompson, Robert Newman and Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell.
The Forum was the hub venue for the Festival, supported by other city venues including Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form, University Technical College Norfolk (UTCN), Norwich Cathedral, Norwich School, Norwich Playhouse, OPEN Norwich and EPIC Studios.

Excellent festival. So proud that Norwich hosts such an event.
‘‘Thank you so much for a lovely day of science. It was such a well-organised visit and the children loved it! Staff and parents mentioned how much they enjoyed it and how well-organised it was.
