You want biometric analysis? No problem for mediCAD!Automatic suggestion of ideal joint center position considering bodyheight, weight and initial biomechanical analysis.

Improved force application and regained physiological muscle move-ment based on the biomechanically determined normal range for an-choring the prostheses.

Avoidance of biomechanically unfavorable results by optimized im-plantation geometry.mediCAD provides a unique solution.

mediCAD calculates and displays the rotation centerfor an optimized geometry of the joint that simu-lates the stress situation of a healthy joint.

The mathematically ideal rotation center is in thegreen, the optimum range according to a 12-pointscore.

Hip

The Endoprosthetics module supports your planning of hip implants.It is based on common, formerly manually conducted planning me-thods in hip endoprosthetics using x-rays and prosthesis templates.

It allows you to quickly and accurately:

� select and fit a suitable cup-shaft combination� correct adduction or abduction� preoperatively and postoperatively determine

leg length adjustment and visualize it on theimage

Fast and automatic planning with AutoPlan functionality:The Autoplan function in the hip module allows you to choose fromautomatically suggested cups and shafts. After specific referencepoints have been determinedAutoplan suggests the most suitable implants for the respectivecases, inserts them automatically and lets you modify them accor-ding to personal decision criteria.

Pre-selecting a certain manufacturer allows you to limit the implantrange to desired implants.

Knee

Plan knee prostheses with the knee-endoprosthetics module. Possiblemalalignment of the axis can bedetected and corrected during plan-ning. This allows you to preopera-tively and postoperatively evaluatethe correction of force applicationon the complete leg.

The life time of the knee prosthesiscan be extended substantially.

Corrections with or without considering the length of the lateralcollateral ligament are possible. Depending on the desired objec-tive, mediCAD corrects malalignment automatically or according tomanually set parameters. It calculates the mechanical axes, weight-bearing line and all relevant angles to be expected postoperatively.

Coxometry

The infant hip:The coxometry module allows you to evaluatehip joints based on clinically relevant values.

As American and European orthopedists use different criteria to eva-luate the hip situation the coxometry module takes these differentapproaches into account.

mediCAD automatically evaluates most criteria using known gradingscales, such as the acetabular head index or the acetabular angle,etc.

Long-term studies can be conducted by saving and/or printing theplanning images based on time series.

Osteotomy by Dror Paley

The analysis determines type, number, size and localization of theosteotomies.

After the correction all joint-related mechanical load axes and jointtangents have to be within normal range.

Common methods:Open wedge or closed wedge, translation

All pre- and postoperative results are shown.The extended module osteotomy by Dror Paley allows you to calcu-late malalignment angles.

Osteotomy

The osteotomy module lets you plan femoral or tibial rehabilitatingosteotomies with single or multiple osteotomies, with open wedgeor closed wedge technique.

Malalignment of the axis is detected automatically and correctedautomatically or manually.

Suitable osteosynthesis components like nails, plates, screws etc.can be selected conveniently from the data base.

mediCAD makes it easy to compose a complete image in standingposition out of partial images.

Hardware recommendations

mediCAD will run on any up-to-date PC, notebook or netbookwith Windows operating system.Recommended screen resolution 1280x1024. No diagnosticmonitor needed.

Templates :

The templates for implants and accessories by the manufacturersthat you use can certainly be integrated into the system. Currently,there are approx. 450.000 templates from more than 85 manufac-turers available in the system.

Introduction / Training

mediCAD is easy to learn and requires no prior knowledge of pro-grams. The operator is guided intuitively through the program. Allstatements are displayed in plain text on the screen.Training time usually takes approx. 2 hours.

X-ray images are imported in DICOM format via an interface of yourPACS/RIS system. mediCAD communicates with all DICOM inter-faces and is compatible with all PACS systems.

All current image formats can be imported as well.

Scaling devices and reference balls - radiology accessories

Calibration ball / reference measure Ø 25 mm

The calibration balls are made from stainless steel and constructedas hollow spheres. This allows for substantial weight saving com-pared to customary balls of solid steel.

The smooth surface of the ball makes it easy to clean.

To achieve most accurate results the ball is placed on bone level. Weoffer special single-use adhesive pads to better attach the ball to thepatient.

Both of our scaling device models offer an easy way to place a sca-ling reference on your x-ray images.
