Thank you for your interest in the work of Recovery Resources. We are deeply grateful to all of those who support our mission of helping people triumph over mental illness, alcoholism, drug and other addictions.

Special thanks goes to those donors, sponsors, foundations, individuals and other supporters who are recognized in this report. It is our privilege and duty to turn your gifts into services for people in our community who are diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or both. On behalf of all of those we serve, we thank you for your trust and generosity. You are making a difference.

For several years now, our community has been in the grips of a public health crisis associated with opiate addiction, overdoses and fatalities. We now know that 666 people lost their lives in Cuyahoga County during calendar year 2016 due to addiction. At the same

time, the need for community support services for people suffering from severe and persistent mental illness has not abated. These are calls to action for the people who work at Recovery Resources, and the agency has responded.

We have taken steps to increase access to our services including treatment, prevention, recovery and advocacy. We have expanded our assessment capacity, for walk-in assessments and evening treatment options.

In early 2016, we launched our campaign #Hopeintheland in response to an alarming rise we are witnessing in the number of people who are struggling with addiction and mental illness. #Hopeintheland encourages people to have conversations about ways to address the devastating loss of life and the collective toll on our community. We are committed to being a part of our community’s solution.

The surge in demand for services is coming at a time of great change in the way our allocated resources to provide those services. We understand that agencies like ours need to adapt to the changing environment and innovate. We are doing that. We have made investments in our operations and programs that we believe will better position us to secure and serve our mission in future years.

We are honored to work with many civic leaders and partner agencies to battle the disease of addiction and the stigma of mental illness. With your continued help, and the support of those leaders and agencies, we are confident that the tide will turn, the world will change the way it thinks about addiction and mental illness, and more people who suffer these illnesses will find help they need.

2016 HIGHLIGHTS

We have witnessed many tragic stories this past year, and we

have witnessed stories of recovery, stories of hope. If it is anyone

that can help us break free from this crippling stigma, it is you,

our partners. Together, we can educate our community that

prevention is critical, that treatment works, and that recovery

is possible.

MONARCH HOUSE

The Monarch House is a sober living home owned and operated by Recovery Resources. The home provides shelter, counseling, and support for up to nine women as they begin their journey learning how to live a life of recovery and sobriety. Since opening in 2015, eight women have transitioned to their own homes and have been reunited with their families.

INTEGRATED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH and PHYSICAL HEALTH CARE

Recovery Resources Integrated Behavioral and Physical Healthc Care has provided primary care for 208 clients with severe mental illness since opening in October,

2015. Staff have identified many chronic conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension, Hepatitis C, colon cancer and liver disease. In collaboration with MetroHealth, Recovery Resources offers primary care appointments at our 4269 Pearl Road campus location three days a week.

EMPLOYMENT

Employment is a critical component to recovery. Recovery Resources offers training, job coaching, resume building and continued counseling for our clients through our Employment Alliance. We work with the employers in Cuyahoga County who are helping to reduce the stigma of individuals with a mental illness and/or substance disorder as contributing members of the workforce. We help to place approximately 200 people each year.

PREVENTION

CaseysKids was formed in honor of our friend and legendary Cleveland sportscaster Casey Coleman. Casey was a staunch advocate for Recovery Resources, lending his voice and his story of addiction and recovery. In collaboration with Recovery Resources, CaseysKids is a curriculum specifically designed for K-12 alcohol and substance abuse education programs.
