Ilse Aigner, MdL

Dear BIM newcomers, enthusiasts, and practitioners,

Building Information Modelling [BIM] is THE new buzzword for the whole construction and plan-ning ecosystem. BIM is the digital transformation of the building sector and it will redesign the entire industry!

Other European countries are already far more advanced than Germany, so we need to take ac-tion. We must ask, who are the market players in Germany and which of them will be effected? BIM will be a challenge for the whole industry!

An entire industry is on the move, leading to the emergence of innovative economic models and new skills. I am pleased to announce that BIM World MUNICH is here to kick start the required change in the German building sector. Let’s ac-celerate the progress of BIM in Germany!

I´m looking forward to meeting you at BIM World MUNICH!

Dear Visitors,

As exhibitor and sponsoring partner at BIM World 2016, Allplan will be showcasing its com-plete solution portfolio for all phases in the life cycle of a building, with the focus on BIM. BIM brings people, processes and tools together in a target-oriented manner and creates added value – everywhere in the life cycle of a building. At BIM World we will present how this has already been achieved with our solutions reliably and easily in day-to-day work. Because with Allplan, BIM is part of day-to-day work.

Our product portfolio extends from the CAD solution Allplan for architects and engineers, solutions for building cost management and the management of buildings for facility man-agers right through to the open cloud solution bim+ for BIM managers and BIM coordinators and innovative partner applications. As a visitor, you can discover how Allplan helps all members of a project team to apply the BIM working method efficiently and create added value. Thanks to the latest versions of Allplan Architecture, Allplan Engineering and bim+ model-based collabo-ration between everyone involved in a project is more simple and reliable than ever before.

If you want to know more how BIM affects daily planning please join us and discover our keynote speech on “Convergence of IT-Systems in the building industry“ at BIM World. We also inform you about our solution for interdisciplinary collaboration bim+ during a workshop session. bim+ ensures that models and data from a wide variety of systems can be managed centrally. As a result, coordination across office, discipline and software boundaries is far easier than before. We present how bim+ creates transparency and en-sures that the planning quality and schedule are adhered to.

Looking to forward to numerous interesting and inspiring discussions at our stand!

Sincerely,

Markus Tretheway

Vice President Product Management

Autodesk welcomes you at BIM World 2016!

The next ten years will bring more change to the AEC industry than we’ve seen in a lifetime. In fact we’re looking at the biggest change since the industrial revolution. Technology, and the dig-ital revolution is changing everything we know, changing the way in which we think about, plan, design, build, finance, operate and maintain our built environment. The focus of design technol-ogy will be the interconnection of data so that we can accurately understand and represent infrastructure & buildings as systems, make well informed design decisions, and construct and manage buildings and infrastructure with reduced risk and improved outcomes.

What does BIM mean to us in this context?

The benefits of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) process are simply too compelling to ignore. From greater budget and schedule predictability, to reduced rework and waste; from enhanced productivity, to greater collaboration throughout project supply-chains. It has, and continues to be a transformative force for the industry, delivering better project outcomes for clients, and better business outcomes for contractors.

As BIM now accelerates towards mainstream practice for project delivery, it’s perhaps prudent to turn an eye to the future and ask the question what lies beyond. The BIM process is enabled by digital technology, and technology as we know rarely stands still.

The Future of Making Things?

A plethora of new technology trends are fast converging on the building industry and those are accelerating the power of BIM and disrup-tive Innovation. They include 3D printing, infinite computing in the cloud, crowd-sourcing, gaming engines, generative design algorithms, drones, robots, crowd funding, predictive analytics, the internet of things, augmented reality, and reality capture. Each, in their own right, has the poten-tial to change one or more aspects of the way in which buildings and infrastructure assets are planned, funded, delivered and operated. But the game-changer is the net effect they will have col-lectively, for example:

» openBIM® to unlimited building and construction processes

» “Unlimited” amounts of computer processing power in the cloud » “Unlimited” amounts of human ingenuity » Merging of the digital and physical worlds » Connecting the real-world together digitally » Greater insight from data » Shrinking the number of physical touches » Freer flow of capital

At Autodesk, we’re calling this emerging period of the industry’s evolution the “Era of Connec-tion”. The potential it holds to radically rewrite the process of design and construction as well as the very business of contracting. And it’s arguably the most democratically applicable period of tech-nological change the industry will ever have wit-nessed. The BIM World 2016 has created the net-work of experts and expertise to experience those key trends and mechanisms who are changing our businesses and services today and in the future.

Excited about the “Era of Connection”?

Join us at BIM World the “Era of Connection”. The Autodesk Team in close cooperation with BIM World.

Design, Connect, Supply

The only thing we know for sure, and the only con-stant in our life is change. We live in a time where everything is changing, and where everything will become digital. The digital revolution is having a huge impact on the construction industry.

In a global market where decisions made on which products and materials to choose, are not just based on real world values, but on how easy it is for designers and engineers to integrate and ac-cess the digital information, for any reason and at any time – it is vital that your business has digital replicas ready for the BIM process. BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a set of processes, soft-ware and new ways of working – with the key goal being to communicate and use information in a better way.

We are BIMobject®, a game changer for the con-struction industry worldwide with our cloud-based digital content management system for BIM ob-jects. Our unique solutions offers manufacturers of building and interior products a complete suite of tools to develop, publish, syndicate, communi-cate, maintain, analyse, business match and add value to their BIM process. As of today we host more than 670 brands, we have had more than

6,5 million product downloads, and we are now closing in on a quarter of a million users.

“The longer your company waits to develop, publish and use powerful pre-sales tools for BIM objects, the tougher you will have to be to keep your position in the market”, Stefan Larsson, CEO and Founder BIMobject.

During your visit here at BIM World you will be able to listen to our CEO and founder Stefan Larsson speak about the digitalisation of the construc-tion industry. He will share his thoughts about how every process will be controlled by software, and that we are all challenged to understand the change. He will also talk about new digital oppor-tunities within the value chain, and the need to get involved with the suppliers and subcontrac-tors as early as possible in order to reduce risk, cost and carbon – connecting it all together. De-sign, Connect, Supply.

You can also come meet us at our booth with placement 1.

We hope you will enjoy BIM world, and remember – tomorrows’ winners are decided today!

Greetings from The BIMobject Team

We welcome you to our home town and one of the most exciting conferences to work together for the future of our industry. Since our founding in 1963, the Nemetschek Group has been supplying technology to enable an information-rich, digital process in AEC. Our portfolio of solutions opti-mizes the design, construction and management processes for buildings – in Germany, in Europe, all over the world.

The BIM movement is at another transition point in its evolution this year. Leading firms through-out the world have switched to model-based in-formation for key stages of a building lifecycle. But now the next generation of innovation in-volves how to connect different steps on the val-ue chain together with high-quality workflows. As

we’ve gotten better at creating information-rich models, the importance of making sure that they can be used by multiple disciplines in a high-qual-ity manner, no matter their software of choice, in-creases in importance.

Germany has one of the most advanced con-struction markets in the world which makes it poised to also take great advantage of BIM.

At the core, this means that we must continue to evolve the state of open standards beyond just software exchange formats to make sure that we have a set of open standards that support the workflows that we need. All of our solutions speak the language of Open BIM. This means that you can rely on us to make sure that you’re not only

using the best solution for your needs, but that the data can be used throughout the lifecycle.

If you combine this with model quality standards, it means we can work towards the next phase of digitalization.

The Nemetschek Group is organized as a strate-gic holding company with 13 strong brands. This means that the entrepreneurial spirit of each company continues to keep us close to the cus-tomer. Come visit us at our booth. With German roots, the German-speaking markets are our big-gest in the world and we look forward working with you towards the future of AEC.

Welcome to BIM world 2016.

This is a very exciting time for the construction in-dustry and Trimble is proud to supply innovative, end-to-end solutions that truly transform the way the world works.

As a world-leading supplier of accessible, intu-itive technologies, Trimble is dedicated to revo-lutionising the planning, design, construction and operation of buildings. Whatever the size of your business, Trimble can help you streamline work-flows, improve efficiencies and achieve pinpoint accuracy.

Across the globe, BIM is changing the way build-ings are developed at every stage. Much, much more than just 3D modelling and software, BIM is fundamentally about people and processes. Built on a cornerstone of collaboration, BIM enables the design and construction of buildings that meet the needs of users and occupants not just at the point of completion but for the entirety of a structure’s lifespan.

Germany has always embraced the integration of technology into workflows. In all areas of industry, the country has accepted the need to constantly

evolve and implement new ways of thinking and working to facilitate the best business outcomes.

The launch of the strategic Road Map for BIM, by the Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) in December 2015, demon-strated that Germany is, again, a leading light in incorporating Building Information Modelling into construction best practice.

By 2020, the goal is to apply BIM on all new proj-ects countrywide. Currently, Germany is under-taking a phased period of mobilisation with the aim of facilitating seamless, integrated working in an open and collaborative data environment.

There’s no doubt that Germany has the insight, attitude and application to maintain its repu-tation as a prime mover in the adoption of BIM internationally. However, it is imperative that everyone involved in the design-build process understands BIM and how it benefits not just ar-chitects, major contractors, quantity surveyors and building owners but also subcontractors and SMEs generally. Only when everyone fully under-stands the wholesale benefits of BIM will Germany be truly able to reap the multiple rewards virtual design construction (VDC) affords our industry.

As well as supplying ground-breaking software and hardware solutions that help businesses achieve greater efficiencies and rapid ROI, Trim-ble Buildings is also renowned for its expertise and experience in working with clients to help them find the perfect, bespoke, individual pathway to-wards BIM adoption.

As well as offering hardware, including robotic to-tal stations and 3D laser scanners, and software, such as Plancal nova, Trimble also provides a comprehensive package of VDC services, includ-ing laser scanning, modelling from point cloud and model evaluation. As Germany strives to adopt increasingly sophisticated levels of BIM, we see these services playing a vital role in helping people transition wholly into new ways of working, winning bigger and better contracts and reaping the rewards presented by such an exciting indus-try evolution.

Stop by and visit us and discover how a part-nership with Trimble can help your business get ahead in the BIM race.

Enjoy BIM world and the amazing developments in our industry!

The Trimble Buildings Team.
