1. Please find the photographs to share the progress of the work done so far
Proposed new area where secondary school classes are run after constructing buildings. Mud cutting
and leveling is almost completed
Retention wall in the eastern side is nearly completed
Road constructed and stones are paved in the road to school
.
2. What do you hope to complete or do in the next 3 months?
Contract with the builder will be finalized and Prefab work also start as per design
Foundation relation work (Footing foundation, Bolder soling, Two wall soling, Footing net,
PCC, column (pillar) rod, threat nut bolt, mud filling will be completed
Some more work above the foundation will also be started
3. What were your difficulties for the work, at the rebuilding, at this time?
Financial problem: Rate of construction charging (per square meter) has nearly doubled
due to blockade of diesel by India. Labour and other workers have also increased their
daily wages more than expected.
Frequent aftershocks of Major earthquake of last year.
Tendency among the people that Donor has given lots of money for the school
construction and there should be some more initiation to support people who have lost
their own home due to earthquake.
4. Is there any good practice or knowledge that you would like to share?
We are trying to utilize the local materials for example ‘stones’, for which local people are
getting the employment too. It makes them to feel they also have some contribution in the
school construction.
Local people also volunteered for removing earthquake debris of the school.
5. Do you have any suggestions or comments that could make this rebuilding work better?
Motivate local people to own the construction work
Volunteer contribution from people for the monitoring of rebuilding work
6. Open comments/Remarks (If you have any further information to share)
New session of school starts from April and after July rainy season may start. So there is
difficult to complete the construction work before rainy season may start. So, children have to
start their study on temporary building this year too.
