    Aga Khan Rural Support Program(AKRSP)

    AKRSP is involved in community infrastructure development in the Northern Areas and Chitralsince 1982. They have initiated more than 2,000 CPI projects to date, for benefit of 130,000

    households. Out of these 1,980 projects have been completed. The projects include mainly irrigationschemes, roads, bridges, flood protection bunds, drinking water supply schemes in addition to theseone microhydel project has been completed. Most of these projects are productive, especially

    irrigation schemes (about 53% of the total number of projects) which enhanced the assets of thepoor rural households by providing additional land for agricultural production.

    BRSP was established in April 1991 under the Companies Ordinance 1984 as not for profit entity.

    BRSP started credit program, alongwith other activities, in 1991. The purpose of the credit programwas to provide rural population with an access to capital.     Community Uplift Program ( CUP)

    Community Uplift Program (CUP) was established as a socialwelfare organization. One of the major objectives of the CUPis to help disadvantaged and marginalized communities

    particularly women and children in reducing their poverty

    levels. CUP initiated CPI interventions one year ahead of itsformal registration i.e. in the year 2000. So far 6 CPI projects

    Development Action for Mobilization and Emancipation (DAMEN)

    DAMEN was registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with Joint Stock Companies,

    Punjab, Lahore on 21st May'92.It is relatively small but emerging institution that has been in operation since 1992, with a steadygrowth and has been able to achieve high degree of specialization in microfinance. It works

    primarily in the field of microcredit, by initiating education for children, with exclusive focus on

    women residing in the peri urban area of Lahore.

    Introduction

    GBTI was established in 1995 as a company, registered under

    Companies Ordinance 1984, with a vision of alleviating

    poverty and improving quality of life of the rural people

    affected by the Ghazi Barotha Hydropower Project (GBHP) inPunjab (District Attock) and NWFP (Distract Haripur and

    Swabi). Their main focus is on social mobilization and

    Green Circle Organization (GCO)

    Green Circle Organization (GCO) was established as a social welfare organization, registered under

    the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance 1961 since May , 1994. GCO has a strongpresence in more than 100 villages of Tehsil Depalpur,Distt. Okara and Tehsil Jaranwala, Distt.Faisalabad through its Community Based Organizations( CBOs).

    GCO has been involved in the areas of Agriculture, Physical Infrastructure, Environment, Micro-

    Human Development Foundation (HDF)

    Human Development Foundation (HDF) is registered under section 42 of the Companies

    Human Resource Development Society ( HRDS)

    Human Resource Development Society (HRDS) wasestablished as a social welfare organization. HRDS isinvolved in the implementation of CPI in four districts namely

    Bahawalpur, Lahore, Jhelum and Rajanpur. Since its inception

    the organization has facilitated the involvement of

    communities in the construction of 231 water supply andSanitation projects. Of the mentioned, 200 projects have been

    completed whereas, remaining projects are at different stages

    Himalayan Wildlife Foundation (HWF)

    The Himalayan Wildlife Foundation ( HWF) is a non-profit,non governmental organization dedicated to safeguard the

    biodiversity and cultural heritage of Pakistan. Since 1993

    HWF has been helping the Northern Area Forestry

    Department in the management of Deosai Park. A park, whichhas been instrumental in the efforts to preserve the dwindling

    population of the endangered Himalayan brown bear. Efforts

    have included involving the local communities in theconservative process.

    With the commitment to its cause, HWF continued its heritageconservation program by attempting to document and

    conserve parts of the citadel of the famous fort of Rohtas. Inthe process, HWF has recently completed a completed

    sewerage system in the abadi of Rohtas village to improve the

    Indus Earth was established in June 2001 and

    registered on January 2002 as a Trust. The trustestablished with the objectives to build natural

    Islamic Relief (IR)

    Established in 1984 in Birmingham, UK as anindependent international relief and development

    organization. IR started working in Pakistan in

    1992 as a company limited by guarantee undersection 42 of the companies ordinance. IR has its

    country office in Islamabad and regional offices

    in Quetta (Balochistan) and Muzaffarabad (AJK).

    Islamic Relief (IR) has been involved incommunity infrastructure development in two

    SOS Childrens Village

    Introduction

    SRSO is part of the Rural Support Programs Network and is

    the provincial RSP providing integrated services in micro

    credit, infrastructure and education, working at grass root

    level on provincial level. SRSO is involved in communityinfrastructure development in seven districts of Sindh

    Save the Poor (STP) was established in 2002 as an offshoot ofTaraqee Trust (TT). After separation from TT in February2004, it was registered in April 2004 as a non-government

    Village Friends Organization (VFO)

    Village Friends organization (VFO) was established in 1988as a local initiative to check river erosion by implementingflood protection works. The organization was registered in
