Participation in the occasion of the Centenary year Celebration of Makardaha Saraswat Library
in Howrah District (21.12.2018 – 23.12.2018)
Makardaha Saraswat Library celebrated the Centenary Year of their library from December 21 to December 23, 2018
at Makardaha, Howrah. They invited the Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore to participate in their
programme. The Sangrahalaya organized an Exhibition Stall on three Great Personalities - Gurudev Rabindranath
Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for 3 days. The Exhibition was inaugurated by the
Honorable Governor of West Bengal, Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi on December 21, 2018. The Director-Secretary of
the Sangrahalaya conducted a Spot Quiz on the life and activities of Mahatma Gandhi on December 22, 2018. The
Organizer had arranged an Open-Air International Panel Discussion on 'Library in Safeguarding Local Heritage' in the
evening on December 22, 2018. Janab Siddiqullah Chowdhury, Honorable Minister in Charge of Mass Education
Extension and Library Services of Government of West Bengal was present in the Panel Discussion. Shri Supreo
Chanda, Associate Professor, Department of Museology, University of Calcutta, was the Moderator of this Panel
Discussion. Dr. Indrani Bhattacharya, Associate Professor of Department of Museology, University of Calcutta, the
Director-Secretary of the Sangrahalaya along with other Deligates of Bangladesh were the main Speakers in this
Panel Discussion. The Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore acknowledges the Makardaha Saraswat Library for
inviting the Sangrahalaya to organize several programmes on 'Gandhi - 150' during the occasion of the Centenary
Year celebration of their Library for 3 days.
