UX DESIGN BOOTCAMP 3
This 18-week Bootcamp has been designed to teach the brilliant
basics of UX design used to produce impactful, purposeful
and beautiful user experiences. The first 12 weeks immerses
participants in the key skills and concepts that make great design
followed by an intensive 6-week industry UX Design project.
The application of UX Design across different platforms, emerging
technologies and industries is covered (Web, Mobile, Wearables,
AI, AR/VR, Medical, SaaS, Gaming). The future of UX Design is
evolving with the emergence of AI and machine learning producing
a new generation of algorithm-based design tools - these are
also explored and applied in practice. The course also focuses
on developing core transferable business and management skills
required to lead design projects in commercial environments.
Participants will develop and run their own design sprints. This
course is for individuals who want to be able to manipulate the
mechanics behind a user experience, accelerate their career and
enhance their design portfolio with top-notch industry project work.
The course is underpinned by five blocks; Brilliant Basics;
Research & Analysis; Design Sprint; Prototyping & Evaluation
and an Action Project (A-Project). The course is 18 weeks during
which participants spend a substantial number of hours working
on practice-based group and individual projects. A-projects are
actual UX Design challenges sourced from within participants’ own
organisation or through external host organisations. Throughout
the course, faculty will share first-hand insights with emerging
technologies.

UX DESIGN BOOTCAMP 7
BRILLIANT BASICS
The course starts with building brilliant UX Design basics - the fun-
damental principles of design. Participants take a deep dive into
history, theories, ethics and the principles underpinning the
user experience and the user journey.
Brilliant Basics also involves developing key business skills required
to lead design projects in the commercial world. The delivery of all
design projects involves a range of generic or transferrable skills that
are often difficult to teach but essential to any successful outcome.
Develop your creative confidence and storytelling skills, learn about
design’s influence on various levels of the organisation, and internal
processes, how to build design capabilities, and the Designer/Mana-
ger. This is accelerated by our team of experienced design practitio-
ners who share insights and tips on practical business management
- skills needed to excel in the commercial world.
RESEARCH & ANALYSIS
Understanding users’ motivations, behaviours and processes is a vital
skill for UX Designers. This block immerses participants in the key
methods for uncovering valuable user insights. We focus on user-cen-
tred methodologies like Design Thinking, Lean UX and Customer
Co-Creation. These tried and tested ways of working focus on real
human needs and outcomes.
Starting with hypotheses, participants will plan and execute research
activities. Participants will hone competitor benchmarking, ethnography
and contextual enquiry skills. Interviewing and observing will help you, as
a designer, to gain empathy and uncover patterns in user behaviour.

UX DESIGN BOOTCAMP 8
Participants will collate, code and translate rich data into human stories.
These stories will align teams, inspire action and lead to delightful pro-
ducts and services.
A more futuristic look at design is also explored, which takes partici-
pants beyond screens into building transmedia experiences. These are
bespoke, unique and shared experiences that are often location and
time-based. Learn how to leverage the power of non-linear transmedia
storytelling.
DESIGN SPRINT
In this block we develop the skills required to run your own design
sprint and tailor it to a specific product, service or legacy system.
The Sprint is part of the designer’s toolbox because it gives teams
a shortcut to learning without building and launching. We learn
to choose the best sprint activities from a large toolbox. These
could be problem framing, customer experience mapping or
storyboarding. Through role-playing participants have to ma-
nage various organisational stakeholders in a real-life case.
Throughout the module, we learn how information architecture,
hierarchies, conventions and graphics are tied to how the human
mind works through behavioural economics, nudging and gamifi-
cation along with hands-on cases illustrating the applicability of
the theories. The block ends with a summary of insights ready to
be turned into prototypes and tested in the next module.

UX DESIGN BOOTCAMP 9
PROTOTYPING & EVALUATION
This block turns user insights into prototypes with various levels
of fidelity, ranging from hand-drawn mock-ups to full-blown wire-
frames. You are introduced to the power of rapid prototyping
as an essential way to make ideas tangible and move the pro-
cess along through agile testing and incorporating user feedback.
Learn how to test and validate ideas spanning the user journey
across desktop and mobile using a wide range of prototyping
methods including paper wireframes, mood boards, storyboards,
models, digital workflows and mock-ups.
ACTION PROJECT (A-PROJECT)
Core to the overall philosophy of Talent Garden is the A-Project
which focuses on the practical application of your new skills and
knowledge. The course offers two substantial practice-based
components: the first is an individual design project based on a
challenge or opportunity facing your own organisation/work, and
the second is a predefined industry UX design challenge based
on external host organisations.
The A-project is mentored and supported by our industry practi-
tioners. The project outcome is for participants and industry part-
ners to develop actionable solutions for practical implementation
as well as to provide real and practical experience for participan-
ts. A-project also helps participants to build their design portfolio
and gain more in-depth knowledge in specialist areas.
