How many people are learning English in China?

About 300 million people either are learning or have learned English in China . It is a quarter of the whole population.

Among them, about 100 million are students

How many people are learning the second language in United State?

Only about 10 percent of native- born Americas speak a language other than English, according to an analysis of 2010 census figures.

English Education in China

Currently, English is a compulsory course from Grade 1 in primary school to college . Every high school graduate has had to study English for at least 12 years

The Ministry of Education mandates that English be taught at every college and university as a compulsory subject. This course is officially called College English .

College and university students also are required to study college English as compulsory course for at least 1 year.

Only after they pass all the English exams ( e.g: CET )and get enough credits in English course can students obtain their bachelor’s degree

CE Curriculum is issued by China’s Ministry of Education. As a top-down document, it acts as a guide for colleges and universities nation-wide to formulate a school-based curriculum in the light of their specific circumstances
