1008_JobDescription_Part I Architectural Assistant Job Description: Architectural Assistant RIBA Part I Reports to: Project Architect Works with: Design Team Appraised by: Directors, Associates and Senior Architects Location: Based in London or Winchester but may be required to work in either location Purpose of role: Support to the Design Team Overview of the role: Part I Architectural Assistants will typically work as part of a team, under the control of a Project Architect and will be expected to assist the team in the design and production of schemes within the office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: For Part 1 Architectural Assistants these include: Architectural Drawing and sketching design solutions by hand Developing schemes using 2D and 3D computer CAD packages such as Vectorworks and Revit. Producing 3D images using CAD and rendering packages Creating 3D physical models Producing reports. Knowledge of ‘Quark’ or ‘In Design’ an advantage Producing /maintaining other documents using programmes such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop. Participating in design debate Researching products, materials, buildings etc as directed Making presentations within practice to staff on projects Operating standard filing systems within office for drawings and correspondence General Assisting in general duties in the office Undertaking all job activities in line with Health and Safety guidance and requirements Competencies Part I Architectural Assistants are expected to demonstrate, or have the potential to demonstrate, the following competencies as listed within the ‘Graduate’ level of APLB’s competency matrix: Professional Skills Professional exams Strong contribution to design team Strong design awareness and fundamental skills (quality of portfolio, graphic skills, aesthetically conscious etc) Represents practice professionally through quality of work; acts as an ambassador Demonstrates commitment to architecture as career; enthusiastic and dedicated Understands the implications of time on cost; able to compromise where necessary Client Skills Represents practice professionally; creates good impression Develops greater understanding of business development skills; recognises importance of these in ensuring success of business Demonstrates ability to communicate well with clients; establishes rapport quickly; interprets needs and responds appropriately

Administration & Marketing Assistant Fixed term 6 month contract (Salary is competitive and dependent on experience) ArchitecturePLB is an award winning Architectural Practice, based in London and Winchester. Our portfolio includes a broad range of educational and residential projects as well as unique civic and cultural buildings. We are looking for an Administration & Marketing Assistant to support the team of architectural staff within the friendly and collaborative environment of our London studio. We welcome applications from candidates who are enthusiastic and organised with good multi tasking skills and graphic design flair. They should be willing to apply themselves to all aspects of studio life from answering the phone and greeting visitors to providing marketing and bid support to Directors and managing marketing material. Key duties of the role: Administration duties include: maintaining tidy ‘front of house’, stationery, provisions, mail, petty cash, answering telephone, greeting visitors, organise refreshments for meetings Marketing duties include: support in putting together bid submission documents, award submissions, practice brochures and reports. Maintaining marketing information databases. Candidates should meet the following requirements: Essential: - Highly organised, self motivated with excellent communication skills,

ability to prioritise workload and to work to tight deadlines. - Proficient in the use of Adobe Indesign, Excel and Word - Excellent spoken and written English Desirable:

- Experience of Photoshop and Wordpress online publishing - Graphic design skills - An interest in architecture and the built environment

Education: Further or Higher Education; NVQ Level 4 or Degree level qualification The role is offered on a full time, six month fixed term basis in our London studio.
