Directions: For each vocabulary term below, write the definition, an example of the term, and a sentence

using the term properly. You may use the internet or any dictionaries you may have.

-Definition: Simile- comparing 2 things using like or as.

-Example: The virus spread like an Australian wildfire.

-Sentence: Instagram users make memes that are basically similes comparing the Corona Virus to acts in

history and social media concepts.

2. Short Story

-Definition: Short Story- a story with a fully developed plot but is shorter and less elaborate than a novel.

-Example: The first short story we read this year was “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker.

-Sentence: My favorite genre of literature is short stories.

Each section is an individual classwork grade.

Part C: CNN 10 - Watch 3 Student News Videos (3 Homework Grades)

Using your phone or computer, go to YouTube and type in CNN 10- April 14, 2020 (or any date since school has closed). CNN News representative, Carl Azuz, provides daily news for students, so each day, there will be a new video uploaded to YouTube or the CNN official site. Each video is exactly 10 minutes.

Directions:

Watch 3 CNN 10 videos and provide a paragraph summary or bulleted list (at least 8 summarizing details or an organized paragraph with 8 sentences) about each video. The title of each summary is the video’s title.

Format: CNN 10- May 2, 2020.

Part D: Weekly Journaling (Project Grade)

Choose 9 of the questions/topics below, and complete at least 3 journal entries each week.

Your answers should include 2 – 5 lines of writing.

Journal Questions/Topics:

1. What do you miss most about being a young child (under 10 years old)?

2. Write about a time when you were shocked by something your best friend did.

3. What makes a person unattractive. Elaborate.

4. Who is the coolest person in your group of friends? Why?

5. If you could have a superpower what would it be?

6. What is your favorite song right now? What do you like about this song?

7. Explain how someone in your family has aggravated you recently.

8. If your parents described you to their friends, what would they say about you? Would your

parents brag or complain? Elaborate.

9. Which of the four season is your most favorite? Why? Which is your least favorite? Why?

10. Do you study and complete your school work better with or without music and television?

11. If you had to choose to keep only your sight or your hearing, which would you keep. Why?

12. What is your definition of beauty? Name a beautiful person, and explain his/her beauty.

13. Which of your online classes is the easiest? How? Which is the most difficult? How?
