Guidelines for word processing

Required format Questions on the Application Form must be either answered or marked not applicable. The Application must be completed in full. It is not acceptable to refer to documents not

supplied with the Application in lieu of answering the questions in full.

B9.To be eligible for PIC IP funding, an applicant must provide evidence to demonstrate that their project has reached a Readiness Level 5 or above (see Section 5.3.2 of the Applicant Guidelines). Please indicate below what level you believe your project has reached.

Part D. Compliance with General Funding Conditions

NB: The Commonwealth’s position is to use an unaltered version of the Sample Funding Agreement to formalise any grant under the PIC IP. However, the Commonwealth may be willing to consider minor changes to the Funding Agreement where there is a justifiable reason for doing so.

Part E. Applicant Declaration

NB: All Applicants must sign this declaration and attach a scanned copy of the signed declaration to their Application. Failure to sign the declaration will result in your Application being considered incomplete and ineligible for funding.

Appendix A: Project and Commercialisation Plan(s)The Applicant must include a detailed Project and Commercialisation Plan(s) as part of their Application. They can either be two separate plans or a consolidated plan.

The Plan(s) should be developed before completing Part C of the Application Form. The information contained within the Plan can be referenced or otherwise used in responding to the Merit Criteria.

As a minimum, the Project and Commercialisation Plan(s) must contain the following:

A summary of the technology or system output to be developed through the project. Define how the project links with a Priority Industry Capability. A description of the possible applications and uses of the product, process or service

intended to be developed by the project. Outline the results of any market research you have conducted on the intended output of

the project, including your company’s current market-share, the size of the market, number of competing products and, what you have projected your future market-share to be, based on the implementation of the new/enhanced product, system or service.

The timeframe for the project including start and end dates as well as key milestone dates associated with the project (this should include a project schedule, e.g. a Gantt chart).

A detailed description of the activities to be undertaken as part of the project. The activities should be linked to the key milestones defined in the project schedule.

Identification of the key risks associated with the project as well as any mitigation strategies identified by the Applicant.

An organisational chart outlining the structure of the project team including business, project and marketing managers, technical staff and subcontractors, and any other relevant staff that will be assigned to this project.

Profiles/biographies of any key personnel associated with the project. A detailed description of all of the costs associated with the project and how they have

been calculated (Appendix A – Table 1). Applicants should note the eligible expenditure guide contained within the Applicant Guidelines.

A description of how the Applicant will fund its share of the project costs, whilst maintaining its existing contract commitments (for example, sources of cash contributions, sales pipelines or contracts, equity investments, loans, business angels, etc).

A description of any Intellectual Property requirements of the project and how these requirements will be met. If third party Intellectual Property is required, how will this be obtained?

A description of any International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITARS) restricted material, and evidence that your company is ITARS compliant, as required.

A detailed marketing and distribution strategy for the product, system or service being developed under the project. The plan should incorporate how you will target identified markets; what trade events (if any) you plan to attend, with reasoning as to why attendance would be beneficial; and, identify the competitive aspects of your project in comparison to competing systems.

The Applicant must also complete Appendix A - Tables 1, 2 and 3 and include these with their application. If the Applicant is successful, this information will be incorporated into the Funding Agreement.

Appendix A – Table 1. Budget Calculator

Applicants should complete the PIC Innovation Program – Project Budget Calculator (located on the Program website www.defence.gov.au/dmo/id/picip/) prior to completing the Project Summary at Appendix A Table 2. The figures from the summary sheet within the Project Budget Calculator should be incorporated into Table 2. When completing the Budget Calculator, please refer to the Eligible Expenditure Guide in the Applicant Guidelines.
