4. His Commitment

1 Timothy 1:18, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare”• Do not be given to flight “remain”

where we are (Titus 1:5)

• Labors and suffers (1 Tim. 4:10)• Occupies the mind and spends your

energy (1 Tim. 4:15)– The committed preacher’s progress will be

evident– Meditate + entirely given = progress

• Continues (1 Tim. 4:16)– Heed to self– Heed to doctrine– Motive: work to save self and those who hear

• What has the preacher done to his “trust” who spends little time studying the teaching of Christ?

• What has the preacher done to his “trust” who spends little time in preparing his message?

• What concern does the preacher have for those who “hear him” who has the manner of winging it?

20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
