Brengel Technology Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

� Built in 2000 – in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

� Complements existing 100-year-old Building Efficiency Headquarters building next door

� 130,000 sq. ft. of space added to the complex – with no additional maintenance personnel needed

� Delivered a 35% reduction in operating costs compared to traditional construction

Geothermal System

Geothermal System Details:

• 272 wells drilled 300 feet deep

• Wells use the subsurface temperatures for warming or cooling the water supply

• Heat pumps reduce winter heating costs by 29 percent when compared to current natural gas boilers

• Using geothermal wells to pre-cool chiller water in the summer will reduce chiller operating costs by 23%

• Heat pumps have operating costs 57% lower than traditional natural gas systems
