    Videos from our Partners

  • Since 2013, Delta Air Lines, the “Official Airline of the National Flight Academy,” has sponsored nearly 1,600 students to attend the National Flight Academy. Attendance is made possible through scholarships provided to students from Delta-selected community partner organizations and children of Delta employees/retirees and children of Endeavor Air employees, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta. In addition, scholarships are provided to Delta’s Joint Venture Partner Airlines Virgin Atlantic, GOL, Aeromexico Air France-KLM and WestJet to offer to their employees’ children.

Congratulations! Because you have received this packet, you have been selected by Delta as a 2019 Community Partner or Partner Airline to receive scholarship seats!

You have already received an email from Riannon Boven, Business Development Officer at the National Flight Academy with the number of

seats you have been allocated. If you do not have that email, please call Riannon at 850-308-8935 or email [email protected].

As a Community Partner, it is now your responsibility to choose the students to which you wish to allocate scholarship seats.

The scholarship DOES NOT include travel to and from the National Flight Academy or additional hotel nights, meals, etc. It is for TUITION IN THE PROGRAM ONLY.

In this packet, you will find:

    • Ideas for selecting your students• Registration information including an

introduction to the NFA registration team (We are here to help!)

    • FAQs for talking with parents• How to promote this with students

(once they have been selected)• How to make the most of this

opportunity• Ways to connect with students

    PART 2:PARTNERSHIP

  • You are free to allocate scholarship seats as you like. However, the whole experience is elevated when a student competes for a spot. They are invested in coming and are excited when they win a spot. You may also want to allocate seats to students who need a little extra push or who are interested in aviation or STEM-based activities. Here are a few ideas:

Advertise any contests through social media, flyers to parents, etc.

IMPORTANT: The number of alternate students you are required to choose is listed in your original email from Riannon Boven. If you have questions, contact her at 850-308-8935 or [email protected].

    • Essay Contest - Select a writing prompt and require students to submit an essay. We suggest a STEM-based question or one that requires them to think about personal ambition. Have fun with the question!

    • Video Contest – Ask attendees to submit a short video of why they want to attend. Great content to share on social media! (Just make sure you get a signed release form from parents if your organization wants to use a child’s video on Social Media.)

    • Community Connections – Utilize teachers in the school systems and/or after-school programs to identify youth from disadvantaged circumstances. Often these children do exceptionally well at the National Flight Academy. They are exposed to very achievable career paths they have never considered, such as Air Traffic Control.

    PART 3:CHOOSING STUDENTS

  • IMPORTANT: Only parents or legal guardians may complete the registration process for their child.

The National Flight Academy’s registration team monitors applications as they come in and perform various roster checks. Our team will work back and forth with you and parents to make sure they are registered by the Registration Deadline and all questions are answered.

  • PART 5:FAQs FROM PARENTS

What is the National Flight Academy’s Mission?NFA inspires, engages and educates by delivering innovative, fully immersive, aviation-inspired Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) learning experiences and 21st Century Learning Skills.

Why the National Flight Academy?Statistics prove the skills of American students in STEM are declining in relation to students from other industrialized nations. The National Flight Academy team currently includes the best and brightest from the academic arena as well as the latest technology in the fields of simulation, training, and education all incorporated into an intriguing, immersive story. This immersive environment, coupled with the most innovative methods in instruction, will foster a desire to learn and pursue the math and sciences that open the doors which lead to the careers of tomorrow.

What makes up the curriculum or educational program? The curriculum includes aerodynamics, survival skills, navigation, aviation physiology and meteorology. However, the National Flight Academy is more than just academics. A fully immersive gaming environment is used for students to participate in exciting missions. Each mission is aligned to Florida and National educational standards. An additional area of focus is 21st Century Core Competencies to

emphasize essential skills such as collaboration communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

What about the security and well-being of my child?Full-time, 24/7 physical and electronic security are provided throughout the facility when programs are in session. Access to the National Flight Academy facility, especially the berthing and academic floors, is monitored and closely controlled by proximity card readers. AMBITION Experimental Pilots (AXPs) are issued hotel-room like keys that allow access to their berthing areas and assigned staterooms. During program hours, each squadron of AXPs is assigned a full-time staff “Chief.” Outside of those hours, overnight staff resident assistants, healthcare professionals, and trained security personnel are on-site. Security cameras monitor common areas and all hallways. A fully qualified nursing staff led by an RN oversees a four-bunk sickbay on-site, along with storage and administration of specialized medications. Safety and medical care are based on requirements set forth by the American Camp Association.

What ages are eligible to attend? The Deployment Program is an in-residence educational experience offered to students entering grades 7 through 12. Students currently in the 12th grade graduating in spring/summer of 2019, do not qualify to attend.

  • PART 6:MAKE THE MOST OF THIS OPPORTUNITY ONCE STUDENTS ARE SELECTED

Meet & Greet with Registration Assistance

Once your children are selected, invite them for a meet and greet at your office in conjunction with a parent night. This also provides an opportunity for you to help parents register their children on the spot. This is important for technologically-challenged parents who may not have access to a computer.

At this time, utilize our Press Kit and show them photos of the NFA and the facility video that can be found below. Parents become engaged when they know more about the program and realize it is an honor to be selected. You can also share with them the “A Day in the Life of an Ambition eXperimental Pilot” below.
