LATE BREAKING BUFFETT NEWS By: Joe Lombardi

After a couple of false starts with the Margaritaville Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS and the Margaritaville Marina and Casino in Atlantic City, Margaritaville Holdings, LLC (owned by Jimmy Buffett) is planning to get into the resort “Bidness” is a somewhat smaller fashion. First, there was the recent proposal to the Hollywood (FLA) County Commissioners to develop a Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort on a city owned site on the ocean. However, Jimmy‘s in competition with the deep pockets of Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and the rest of the Planet Hollywood crew so the outcome far from certain. Montauk Playhouse. He built roads, planted nurseries, laid water pipes and built houses. Eventually though, his dream was dashed when the stock market crashed in 1929. Carl Fisher and Jimmy Buffett. Miami and Montauk. There’s a certain symmetry. Truth is, Jimmy’s had his eye on the yacht club for the past few years. Every Wednesday night during the Summers of 2008 and 2009, the yacht club hosted “Margaritaville Night”. With Island music, drink specials and giveaways. At first Margaritaville Tequila and Landshark Lager were featured. Then, last year, Margaritaville Rum made its debut at the yacht club. The nights were a big success and drew large, enthusiastic crowds. But that’s not the only reason why the purchase of the Montauk Yacht Club is such a natural fit for Margaritaville. It’s practically a turnkey operation. The yacht club currently features the Gulf Coast Kitchen, the Barracuda Bar, a Turtle Lounge and Hurricane Alley. Could this be purely serendipitous? We think not. That’s just the yacht club. The marina was named by Yachting Magazine, as a top ten marina destination in North America, Mexico and the Bahamas. A perennial favorite among the boating community, the marina has 232 slips and can accommodate craft over 225 feet in length with a maximum of a 12+ foot draft. Looks like the Continental Drifter III may have a new port-of-call. According to the terms of the contract, IGY will run the yacht club through the 2010 season. Renovations will begin in November when the club closes for the season. Look for the Margaritaville-Montauk Yacht Club to open in the Spring of 2011.

TALES FROM MY BANK OF BAD HABITSTALES FROM MY BANK OF BAD HABITSTALES FROM MY BANK OF BAD HABITSTALES FROM MY BANK OF BAD HABITS I’m pleased to forfeit my space on the front page for that special Buffett news alert. I guess the dockage rates at the Montauk Yacht Club will double. Looks like I’ll have to tie up at the Boat Basin now. I am in between a trip to Nashville (yes, I came back because I didn’t get a record deal) and a trip to Punta Gorda Florida to Jim Morris’ Magic on the Water, and it looks like there will be as many Metros down there as there are up here. We’ll all report back to you when we return, just like last year. Just a few things to mention. I want to thank all the members that supported the March Long Island Happy Hour. A remarkable amount of money was raised at the happy hour for a really great cause. And, don’t forget the road cleanup on April 24th on the east end. Jones Beach tickets will be on sale soon. It’s $105 this year, $31 less than most other clubs are paying. We are in the planning stage for the Metro & Morris event in Bridgeport. As usual, we will coordinate the Long Island ferry for our “Boat People”. Rates and times will follow, and as in the past, the Connecticut Metros will get you from the ferry to Captain’s Cove. This will be our 8th year for the event, and to be honest, Carol and I are getting a little tired of all the work. We could really use your help getting items for the silent auction, and if you can help us for an hour or two on that Saturday at the Cove, please let us know. Well, that’s it for me until next month, and now a few words from our Long Island Coordinators. Dave Pohorylo

It’s Time to “Spring” It’s Time to “Spring” It’s Time to “Spring” It’s Time to “Spring” into Actioninto Actioninto Actioninto Action

WWWWith aith aith aith a Road CleanRoad CleanRoad CleanRoad Clean----UpUpUpUp The Spring Clean-up of our adopted road, NYS Route 114 in East Hampton, will take place on Saturday, April, 24 (raindate: Sunday April 25).

This event offers a great opportunity for those Club members, who are interested in purchasing tickets to JB at JB on August 31, to earn “brownie-points”. Remember, no “brownie-points”, no tickets.

For those of you keeping score at home, this will be our 47th road clean-up. Not only that, it will be the start of our 17th year of tending to the litter on Route 114. Usually we have three clean-ups a year, but last year we skipped the Summer clean-up in favor of staffing a water stop for the Soldier Ride cycling event and the Fall Clean-up got rained out.

Unfortunately, the after affects of missing both road clean-up are evident along our 2.5 mile stretch of road. It should be noted that Litter is a Renewable Resource. No matter how much we pick up, there’s always more.

By now you know the routine. We'll be meeting in front of the King Kullen in the Bridgehampton Commons at 10 AM for a pit stop. From there, we'll make our way over to Rte 114.

Last Spring, volunteers enjoyed gathering at Murph’s after the Clean-up. So we’ll try that again.

I’ll need a head count so that I can get a handle on how many pointy sticks, fluorescent vests and orange bags we’ll need. Drop me an e-mail at [email protected], if you plan on joining us. As a reminder, work gloves and sensible shoes are a must. Granted the term “sensible shoes” may be open to some debate. This could be interesting.

We know that summer calendars fill up fast, so save this date...Saturday, July 24th. That’s when the 17th annual METRO Family Picnic will take place. It’s called the “Family Picnic” because oftentimes the drive out to Fresh Pond Park is quite similar to the Griswald’s trip to Wally World in “National Lampoon’s Family Vacation”.

Picnic details will follow. For now, just circle the date

CJ Sailor Girl’s Coastal Confessions:

Port: Key West By Carole J. Brandi

Part 2

Hard to believe when we left off from Part 1 of my story it was only Friday afternoon of my very first day at Meeting of the Minds 2009. More meetings happened later that day so let’s get back to Duval and the StreetFest.

After Howard Livingston’s amazing dream-like concert in the middle of Duval, I headed to my favorite bar Irish Kevin’s to listen to and MEET Matt Quinton after 5 years. He was hilarious as ever, singing his crazy covers of 80’s songs and heckling me because my flash was taking too long for my picture. I ran around handing out free CDs generously sent to me by Jake & the Half Conched Band, a group I interviewed long before I knew about MOTM ; ) I also saw DJ Jeff Allen and we gave out the Sandbar Radio lanyards to most of the bar.

It was a short stay there and as I am heading toward the doorway, I see Angela and Eric again!! “YAY!” was all I could shout. What great timing. She told me that they were heading to Hog’s Breath to a Hugo Duarte Meet & Greet fan party upstairs above the bar. I was in! We walked through the bar to the back and passed Tropical Soul on stage. Waiting at the foot of the stairs I felt like some VIP, since I never even knew there was an “upstairs” at Hogs. Hugo had already finished singing but there was a buffet and cake and he was mingling. Many of my friends ran to greet me with hugs. Jim Hill nudged me to go over and meet Hugo. I had only known Hugo through listening to DJ Jeff’s selections on Internet radio. I was actually kind of nervous meeting this Trop Rock celebrity that Jeff revered so highly. I introduced myself and gave him one of my “Pay It Forward” bracelets. He opened it and put it on immediately! He really loved it. (As of this writing he wrote to me on Face Book and told me he wears it and thinks of me, and the great message we are promoting!)

It was certainly an unexpected MEETING for me and now my friends were ready to head to the Rum Barrel to see Jimmy of Jimmy and the Parrots. As we were passing through, I heard a different voice coming from the stage. There HE was---John Frinzi!!! He was singing “Shoreline.” I was stopping to look and take pics and my friends were heckling me “let’s go come on.” I did not get to hear more than one song but there will be another time I MEET Frinzi, I just didn’t know it yet.

We headed down Duval and again I had no idea there was a place called the Rum Barrel nor that they had a Rooftop bar! It was hoppin’ and full of Parrot Heads from bar t o railing. This was really what Key West is all about. There was no sunset for me but the rains held off so we could all party alfresco in the soft tropical breeze. METROS were in the house and clamoring to see who could be right in the front and have the most dance floor space. I danced for a bit and decided to head out to Duval with my friends again to my next big adventure. How fun that the first building I passed was The Pirate Museum! See they just have everything you can dream of when it comes to Key West.

So as Jimmy says “I’ll be roaring Friday night!” The best was still yet to come this first day in KW. The hours went nice and slow and I was about to MEET a few more celebs and good friends and find new bars and new songs that would forever change my music life. I wandered past a number of

bars and walked all the way down to Mallory Square. I just kept walking past all of the places I knew, Ocean Key, A&B Steakhouse, etc and ended up at the very famous Schooner Wharf.

I was by myself, just enjoying the warmoutside of the bar. I went inside and found out that Jim Morris was going to be hitting the stage. I had NEVER seen him before but I know a lot of people in the club love his music and go see him all the time. There was not much of a crowd yet but my next MEETING was about to happen. A couple standing next to me were big fans and told me I had to stay. I was hesitant because I did not know his music and I was by myself. They right in front of Jim’s mic! As the show gained steam, the crowd grew and I saw a few METROS come over to dance with me. I also realized that there was John Patti! The John Patti everyone male or female was talking about LOL!! Had no idea he was in the band. The place was now packed and the songs were resonating in my head. That was the moment that I fell in love with Jim Morris’ and his musical magic.

I left Schooner Wharf on “Sail Boat 9” and headed over sponsored party and it was in full swing. Calypso Nuts were on the stage and I headed over to the bar. DJ Jeff bought me a drink and we headed over to a bunch of picnic tables. I sat next to none other than Doyle Grisham from Buffett’s band. I had met him a few times before but I guess this was somehow very different since now we were in KEY WEST! We chatted a few minutes and then everyone was just enjoying good food and boat drinks.

Next up was Tall Paul and Crawdaddy, feanight went on. I walked to the other side of the bar where I would MEET Holly, another woman I know 4 years from MySpace. And my buddy Angela was screaming her name half the time that I really could not get a word in. But I can say I “met” her. I stayed for just a few songs and was out on the boards again. To where I did not know…..

I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. I was headed back down Duval again! But I remembered that I would pass Margaritaville on my way back to my B&B. I stopped in to the store and checked out all the cool merch. It had been ages since I was there. I could hear a band so I went into the restaurant. Turned out to be The Boat Drunks! They were great but my stay was short. I wamust have walked the entire island!!

My room was freezing so I had to put the heat on. Turns out my heater started to smell and I had to shut it. I slept in a frozen room and thus got very little sleep. Being exhausted the next morning not fun and added a lot more hassle day 2change hotels, went back and forth to Casa Marina for the Beach Party, hit Duval some more, and the last events of MOTM and the other singers I surprisi
