The VCE Role Play takes place in the Legislative Assembly chamber at Parliament House; alternatively, our Tour Guides can come to your school and conduct the presentation in the class room.

Students are allocated the role of either a member or officer of the Parliament (e.g. Premier, Leader of the Opposition, Serjeant-at-Arms, Clerk). Students then follow a script based on actual contributions made by members of Parliament during the debate of a bill passed through the Victorian Parliament.

The program is conducted by experienced Legislative Assembly tour guides, and has been designed to address relevant units of the VCE Legal Studies curriculum.

Bookings

Bookings for a VCE Role Play at Parliament House are offered at 1pm on non-sitting Wednesdays, although other times may be available. The Role Play is approximately 90 minutes in duration and includes a short tour of the building.

Legislative Assembly Tour Guides can also visit schools in metropolitan Melbourne to conduct a VCE Role Play in the class room. Using props and equipment including banners, nameplates, and a replica Mace, the classroom is set up to replicate the Legislative Assembly chamber at Parliament House. Bookings are available at 10am on non-sitting Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The VCE Role Play program is free. The maximum number of students per session is 30.
