Audience Etiquette During A Audience Etiquette During A PerformancePerformance

• Talk about what you anticipate before the performance with your neighbor.

• Once the students enter the concert hall, greet them with a few seconds of applause and then focused silence.

• The entrance of the conductor and accompanist is the sign that the concert is underway and should be greeted with a few seconds of applause again.

• Never allow children to sit anywhere other than with their parents.

• Silence should over take the concert hall once the choir enters.

• Talking is not acceptable at anytime once the choir has entered and is standing on the riser.

• Walk only in an emergency and during applause.

• Sit closer to the door if there is a possibility of the need to step out while a song is going on.

• Don’t be offended if you are ask to be silent while the concert is going on.

performersperformers• Choir enters in a uniform single file.• Eyes and head are forward as they enter

the concert hall and stage.• Singers stand with hands at their sides• Feet shoulder width apart• Head up right.• Eyes are fixed on the director at all times.• Singer is never distracted or distracting

others.• Singers sing with expression.

What the audience should What the audience should hearhear

• Clear, warm, pleasing to the ear tones.• Songs have unison (all singing the same notes) two and three

parts( singing in harmony)• Beautiful singing…not whinny, cats meow screaming sounds or

mooing moaning sounds.• The story of the song should come through with clarity.• The words are clear with crisp consonants and round vowel sounds• Various dynamic levels of loud, soft, gradually louder, gradually

softer and each song sounding different than the other.• The choir sing with the same intensity as the directors conducting.• In tune singing• Balanced blend between section• Clarity of what section is singing.
