Talks inspiring superheroes Joey Rusnak, Founder, Lifeguard Authority
What defines a hero? Are heroes people that save lives and stop bad things from happening? We recognize Military Personal, Firefighters, and Police Officers as heroes but not Lifeguards? If we can’t see ourselves as heroes how can we ever expect our communities to celebrate our Lifeguards as Heroes. How we talk, walk, and look are all factors that affect our image to ourselves and our communities. Lifeguards are heroes and it is imperative that we as an industry start to not only recognize this but start celebrating it!
keynote addressten Cents a swimSometimes even the most seasoned professionals lose sight of the impact that aquatics can have on an individual. Ten Cents A Swim will inspire you with a renewed sense of commitment and give you a true understanding of the lifetime value of the programs and activities that you offer. We are not just savings lives; we are changing lives and ultimately paying it forward!

Overall, I was impressed by everyone’s willingness to share ideas and initiatives that work. Throughout the week, I met and reconnected with people who shared their knowledge and passion for the industry. In aquatics, I believe everyone is eager to share and collaborate, which is unique to this industry. We all share in the focus of reducing drowning related fatalities and encouraging participation in drowning prevention initiatives.
