WELCOME TO PARKINGTOPIA Building the ideal tomorrow, today

A warm welcome to the 2014 BPA Annual Conference, thank you for joining us for this flagship event in the parking calendar. During today we aim to give you the opportunity to develop your knowledge, share expertise, raise issues, challenge current thinking, consider the present and look to the future. The conference programme enables you to choose from a number of presentations, debates, case studies, expert panels and workshop sessions. Please take a moment to review the full programme & the syndicate sessions on offer to help you plan out your day. We also hope you will benefit from the supporting exhibition of the latest products and services in parking and enjoy the fantastic networking experience with colleagues old and new. Today’s theme is Parkingtopia and we will be asking what would the parking profession be like in an ideal world? The ‘perfect’ world of parking may never exist, but as we all strive for excellence, parking professionals tell us that there is much that can be done to bring about improvements. This year’s Annual Conference goes straight to the heart of the matters that parking professionals report are most important to them. The speakers and panellists will be teasing out challenges and frustrations, considering the opportunities that exist to effect change as well as sharing their experiences and expertise. We hope everyone will enthusiastically engage in the discussions and debates taking place today. Download our App – for the latest information about today’s event and network with other delegates, scan the QR code to download the 2014 BPA Conference App or go to www.m.twoppy.com/Parkingtopia/ Internet access is available throughout the venue – connect to ‘CHW-Guests’ and follow the instructions on screen.

THE FUTURE THROUGH A LENS?

HOW WE PAY FOR PARKING

BLUE IS THE COLOUR, COMPLEX ARE THE ISSUES

A PARKING HEALTH CHECK

This session will discuss and debate the use of cameras in parking in light of recent announcements to curtail their deployment.

With more than 1,000 children injured on roads around British schools every month, school safety is an issue that is not going away. The public is demanding action with surveys showing that 86 per cent of drivers support local authority plans to use cameras to catch parents who stop in these areas. However, the Government has announced that the use of CCTV cars for enforcing parking and school safety will be severely restricted and they could be sitting idle much of the day.
