What is a Micro-Internship?
● Short-term: ranging from 10-40 hours in duration
● Paid: average cost to a company is $400 (fixed fee, implying $20 / hour)
● Remote or Onsite: about 90% of projects have been offered remotely (pre-COVID-19)
● Professional: assignments similar to those given to interns or new hires (“We should...” or “I shouldn’t...” tasks)
● Comprehensive: used in all industries across all departments (sales, marketing, HR, finance, etc.) and can take place year-round
● Valued: provides busy professionals with additional resources

● Instructions: ○ Research and draft a 1,200-1,600 word article on a specific topic we provide
○ Reference at least 2 outside sources in your article to backup your claims
○ Target the audience we specify
● Estimated Hours: 15
● Pay: $300
● Location: Remote
● Timeline: 2 weeks (3/1/2020 - 3/14/2020)
How much does this cost students? Universities?
● The platform is free and open for all students○ Students can create accounts/complete projects regardless of
whether student’s university is a “partner” of Parker Dewey
○ All projects are paid
● A basic university partnership is free and includes:
○ Custom landing page with university logo, colors, messaging
○ Marketing materials to launch and enhance program
○ Access to data about student utilization and employer engagement○ Outreach when employer partners post projects through
university’s landing page
How Does it Work for Students/Recent Grads?
• Create an account in <5 minutes
• Platform is open to all students
• All students see all opportunities on the platform

• Projects cycle quickly
• Many projects are filled by multiple students who work and are paid individually
What Kind of Support are Students Given if Selected?

What Should Students Do After the Project?Outline accomplishments
• Work product (e.g., created a market map of..., designed content for..., prepared an analysis on...)• Outcomes (e.g., new articles on... leads resulting in..., social visits increased...)• Indirect competencies (e.g., creativity, attention to detail, motivation, grit, etc.)
Update resume and LinkedIn• Independent consultant of Parker Dewey• Describe the project without sharing confidential info•Only mention company’s name if given permission
Consider what was learned•What did you like about the project, industry, company?•What did you dislike?•How does this impact your career goals?
Stay in touch with the company, apply to other projects• Continue to build the relationships • Gain additional experience
Can International Students Complete Micro-Internships?● Yes through CPT, OPT, or a work visa (usually OPT)● Upon signing up for the platform, an international student:
○ Receives an email from Parker Dewey stating that they must verify their eligibility
○ It’s up to the university to verify their eligibility
○ Once student notifies Parker Dewey that they are
eligible, we approve their account● We can provide an offer letter if needed
How Does it Work for Companies?
No New Hire Paperwork
Parker Dewey is structured as a consulting firm, so all Career Launchers are 1099s through us.
No Conversion Fees
If the employer wants to hire the Career Launcher as an intern, contractor, or full-time employee, go ahead. It’s free!
Low Risk
Career Launchers sign strict NDAs and the employer owns all the work product. And if the employer is unhappy with the deliverable, Parker Dewey will give them a full refund.

How Does the Payment Process Work?
1 Company Selects Candidate:
There is no obligation to move
forward until the company
officially selects a candidate.
2 Company Pays Invoice: After
the Career Launcher has
submitted all documentation
(NDAs, etc.), Parker Dewey
sends an invoice
3 Payment Held in Escrow: The
money is held in escrow until
the employer has verified that
the project is completed.
4 When the Project is Complete:
Parker Dewey issues payment to
the student. (Note: 90% of company’s payment goes to the student)

Note: Employers cannot see feedback from other employers.
Why Not Post Micro-Internships on Handshake, Symplicity, etc.?
● Most employers are not interested in taking on the administrative burden of a short-term project for college students. Remember:
○ Students are on Parker Dewey’s books
○ Parker Dewey assumes all of the risk
● Many of these platforms are not set up to promote short-term opportunities○ Parker Dewey provides project library and other resources
specifically for Micro-Internships
● Micro-Internships are offered by professionals across all departments, not just University Recruiting
