Mission, Purpose, and Theme Proposal presented to the MCS BOE by
Corey W. Lawson, Principal
July 17, 2012
Park Street Elementary SchoolThe S.M.A.R.T. Goals Academy
‘Re-visioning’ the current ThemePark Street’s Theme: Community Collaborative Successful students require successful family and community involvement. We will focus on the whole child through community outreach and support. We will develop, promote, and sustain community partnerships with local businesses, branches of the city government, Greek, non-profit, and religious organizations and agencies.
“What was difficult about promoting innovation using the current theme/focus?” Both the Park Street School Governance (SGT)and School Improvement Leadership (SILT)Teams consistently agreed that innovations aligned to the Community Collaborative School theme were increasingly difficult to communicate to all stakeholders especially to the students. Overall, the theme was mostly conceptual and idealistic. Evidence of success remained elusive at best.

The following Purpose and Mission statements were drafted by the 2011-2012 P.S.E. SGT and
