FROM THE NURSE…Last week the fifth grade girls participated in a Postural Screening Program. The screening helps to identify children with curvature of the spine called scoliosis or other possible spinal problems. The purpose of the program is to recognize the problem at its earliest stages so that the need for treatment can be determined. If you have any questions about the screening, please feel free to contact me!

“STAFF SELFIES” My name is Carrie Stewart, but at Park Elementary students refer to me as Mrs. “C.” Stewart since there are two Stewarts who teach in the third grade. I have been at Park Elementary for 26 years. I earned my Bachelor degree in Special Education in the areas of EMR/LD/BD from Bowling Green State University. I earned a Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University. I also received my certification from the ODE for the 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee.

My husband Derrick and I will be celebrating our 23rd anniversary this June. We have two children. Our son Alec is a junior at The Ohio State University majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. Our daughter Erin is a sophomore at Ohio University. She is majoring in Physical Therapy.

I love to spend my free time with my family and friends. I also enjoy exercising, hiking, and traveling.

My hope for this year is to produce confident independent learners. I want each child who walks through my door to know they are special, they are important, and I believe in each and every one of them.
