Partner Involvement
St. Luke’s Health System, Park University, The Gardens at Barry Road Assisted
Living and Memory Care, and Platte County Health Department are key partners to
the success of Aspiring Medical Professionals.
Brief Description of Shadowing Placements
Aspiring Medical Professionals each receive individualized shadowing placement
schedules. The student schedules are developed closely with support from four
Professional Studies Mission: Park Hill Professional Studies provides authentic learning experiences aligned with students’ interests and talents
that lead to post-secondary educational career success through classroom instruction and professional relationships.
different agencies. These schedules take approximately four months to complete.
Here is a brief description of the process.
As soon as students’ interests are identified and rosters are developed, Park Hill
Professional Studies staff starts coordinating with the St. Luke’s North Hospital,
The Gardens, and Park University. This process normally starts four months prior
to the start of the semester. Once the clinical educator from St. Luke’s North
Hospital coordinates students’ schedule, the schedules are returned to the
Professional Studies Staff for review. Once approved, the schedules are then sent
to the St. Luke’s North Clinic Coordinator to develop the students’ rotations
through the clinics. Once this process is complete, the schedules are once again
returned to Professional Studies staff for final review. Professional Studies staff
then coordinates with Platte County Health Department, Park University and The
Gardens on Barry Road to fill in gaps and finalize the shadowing schedules. As
stated above, this entire process takes around four months to complete.
In addition, class sizes for Aspiring Medical Professionals is capped due to the
capacity of the partners involved. Students cannot be easily moved from one
section to another without offsetting the balance of schedules.
Professional Studies Mission: Park Hill Professional Studies provides authentic learning experiences aligned with students’ interests and talents that lead to post-secondary educational career success
through classroom instruction and professional relationships.
