FROM THE DESK OF FATHER KALUZA
Happy Father’s Day Weekend! We celebrate the goodness that Father’s bring to lives of their families. May we take time to honor and recognize our fathers this weekend! Of course, we look to God as Father who offers us wisdom and reveals to us in his Son Jesus the way to salva-tion. God always showers us with gifts and the greatest gift is forgive-ness of our sins. We know that we live in a broken world – broken be-cause of sin. We are the perpetrators and victims of sin. Only through forgiveness is our relationship with God fully restored. Saint Paul writes about our new creation in what Jesus has done for us in the second read-ing. Life holds many storms and the scriptures this weekend introduce us to the power of nature. The first reading from the book of Job demon-strates that God has control over the great forces of nature. God's love and wisdom are always operating and we do not completely under-stand God's ways. Yet our lives are called to conform to God's ways. Jesus also reveals his saving power in the Gospel. Our human nature is weak and we sense the fear of the apostles in the boat with Jesus travel-ing through the storm. Jesus calms the winds and storms of life. Even the apostles did not recognize the power of their own faith, but they knew that Jesus held the key. Jesus also holds the key for us to increase our faith. We need faith to endure the difficulties of life and with faith all things are possible. May we also be open to allowing our faith to grow firm and then allow what has been granted to us to be shared. God bless you, Father Michael Kaluza
