Fifth Sunday of LentMarch 18, 2018

This Week at St. Mark’s Parish

Chrism Mass Archbishop Paul-André Durocher is pleased to invite ALL PARISHIONERS to gather for the CHRISM MASS, during which the Oils for the Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick will be blessed and the Holy Chrism consecrated. On Holy Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Saint-Joseph Cathedral, 245 Saint-Joseph Blvd., Gatineau. There will be free parking available behind the church and on the streets nearby. Easter Lilies When we celebrate Christ’s victory of life over death at Easter, we want to remember our deceased relatives. In faith, we hold that they are called to share in Christ’s victory over the darkness of death. That is the significance of bringing our Easter lilies to church and having them be part of the Easter decorations. Please bring them into the church starting Tuesday, March 27. You may want to keep in mind that it is good to have some lilies that have both tight buds and “not quite” but “almost open” flowers. Thank you!

Holy Saturday, March 31 9:00 p.m. Easter Vigil Mass

Easter Sunday, April 1

9:00 am & 11:00 am Mass

The Way of the Cross Through Aylmer The churches in Aylmer have a beautiful tradition - on Good Friday, March 30th, members of the different Aylmer Christian communities walk the Way of the Cross by going from church to church. We start at St. Paul’s parking lot at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at St. Mark’s Church where a “Hunger Lunch” will be served by our CWG. All are welcome to join us! Development and Peace We wish to thank you for your generosity on this Development and Peace Solidarity Sunday. Your donation will be used to help our sisters and brothers all over the world — from Lebanon to Cambodia, to Nigeria and beyond! The theme of our Share Lent campaign Together for Peace, invites us to build peace through dialogue and reconciliation and to consider mercy as a source of hope for the future. This is what Pope Francis underlined on the occasion of the Jubilee of Mercy: “Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope.” Thank you for helping us create a future filled with hope!

Cell Phones Do you have a working cell phone that you are no longer using? Please consider donating it to St. Vincent de Paul. Our clients frequently run into problems with their phones and cannot afford new ones. You can give them to Tracey in the Parish office, André Sirois, or Diane Boisjoli.

Have you ever considered including St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church as a beneficiary in your will? Your gift will enable the parish to continue its

mission. Thank you.
