Padre’s Page
Dear Friends,
Please consider our Haiti Committee’s appeal this weekend to sponsor a child (or more than one) by offering them
a good Catholic education at our sister parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Cavaillon, Haiti. See the enclosed flyer for
more information.
Registration for Gradeschool catechesis and Middle and High School youth groups is currently underway: you
may find the registration forms on our website or at the parish entrances. I strongly encourage parents to register all of
their children and teens for continuing formation in the faith. We also need volunteers to serve as catechists and youth
group leaders. For more information, contact Francesca Sayre, our Director of Religious Education & Youth Minstry.
We have a new resident priest at St. Charles: Fr. Alberto Frigerio of the Archdiocese of Milan in Italy will be living
here while he studies for a semester at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in DC. He
will assist us with Masses and Confessions. We are glad to host a priest from the city where St. Charles Borromeo served
as archbishop!
I will be away next weekend on vacation, visiting my maternal relatives in New York City and environs. As a pop
song from the Sixties said, “See you in September…” I remain,
Your servant in Christ Jesus, Father Don

PARISH CHARITIES - FAITH DIRECT DONATIONS
If you have had a chance to switch your donation to Faith Direct, you will notice a Parish Charities donation option. These
donations go toward emergency assistance for both parishioners and Arlington residents who are facing possible eviction,
disconnection of electricity, gas, or water, or other financial difficulties, as well as other charity needs in the parish or
community. Each month, St. Charles assists 25-30 people for a total of $3000-$5000. We rely on your donations to make
this assistance possible. Please consider making a monthly or one time donation to Parish Charities through Faith Direct.

parish entrances or taken to the Parish Office during business hours. All items collected will go to
children in our parish and children served through the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing. For

Haiti Committee Kicks Off
2015-16 School Fundraising Program
Our relationship with our sister parishes and their
elementary schools in Cavaillon, Haiti goes back nearly
30 years. Our sponsorship program for these schools
helps the children to receive an elementary education and
at-school lunches. Our goal this year is to sponsor 600-
700 children, up from 500 in 2014-15, which was down
from 725 in 2013-14. We ask for $100 for tuition and
$50 for school lunches per child, but contributions of any
amount are appreciated. Please see the form in this
weekend’s bulletin for more information. Haiti
Committee volunteers outside of Benedict Hall this
weekend can accept donations, including by credit card.
Please note that electronic giving via Faith Direct is only
an option through Sept. 15. Thank you for your support.
