Discipline It is no accident that the words “disciple” and “discipline” are nearly identical. Their relationship in Christian faith and life, however, has fallen somewhat out of favor in the past generation, as certain prescribed Church rules and regulations have been reduced and relaxed. These rules were often referred to as “disciplines.” We are mistaken, however, to think that it no longer takes discipline to follow Christ. The Letter to the Hebrews assures us of that today. Our discipline is more like that of an athlete pursuing a victory or a personal best, or a musician striving for a concert career or to master a new piece of music. This discipline comes from desire, not from regulations. It was the desire to do the will of God that led Jesus on the path to his cross. It is that same desire he encourages in us today: to strive to enter through the narrow gate, to find ourselves in the kingdom with a surprising assortment of people who are there not because of mere observation of rules, but out of a genuine desire to recline at the table of the heavenly banquet. Child Faith Formation "Raising children calls for an orderly process of handing on the faith. This is made difficult by current lifestyles, work schedules and the complexity of today’s world, where many people keep up a frenetic pace just to survive. Even so, the home must continue to be the place where we learn to appreciate the meaning and beauty of the faith, to pray and to serve our neighbor." –Pope Francis, in his April 2016 Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation, Amoris Laetitia, which means: The Joy of Love. Nearly 200 children are currently enrolled in our Faith For-mation programs here at St. Anne! Please register your child THIS MONTH to be sure there’s a place for them in October. No late registrations, please. A few catechists are still needed for our Saturday classes from 4-5pm. Please see LeAnn Rogan to volunteer. “I prayed for this child and the Lord granted my re-quest.” 1 Samuel 1:27 Register Your Child for Confirmation Classes by August 31 Registration is now open for the 2016/2017 St. Anne Confirmation Preparation Program. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, starting September 25, 2016 and ending on May 7, 2017 with some breaks built in. We follow a two-year program. Students can choose to start in their sophomore year, and will be confirmed in the subsequent school year. We use Matthew Kelly's Decision Point program, along with a variety of enrichment includ-ing guest speakers, prayer/reflection, games and activi-ties. We have a very fun and enriching day-and-a half retreat. Students are involved in Mass ministries on the first Sunday of the month at the 11:30 a.m. Mass. We encour-age a sacramental life: Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Recon-ciliation, prayer, all intended to help the students grow in friendship with Christ. The Confirmation Team provides guidance on all administrative aspects required, including letter to the Archbishop and pastor interview; and we en-courage students to take responsibilities for these dead-lines. Parent orientation will take place on Sunday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m -- where we will cover important infor-mation for this year. Registration needs to be completed by August 31 or earlier online at www.saint-anne.org/sacraments/confirmation, under the Parent Registration section. For questions, contact Mike Nuzzo at: [email protected] or Margie Mandli at: [email protected].

Choir Season begins in September and is moving to Mondays this year. We will resume Monday, September 12. Adult Choir will meet weekly 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through the spring. Mem-bers must be able to attend at least 3

rehearsals/month. No formal training required. Just an ear for music and a heart for God. Children's choir will be modified this year. We will have children's choir on Mondays in September, April and May from 5:30-6:15. The children will meet weekly during those months and then sing mass at the end of the month. We have scheduled these children's choir months to coor-dinate with when Faith Formation is in recess so that par-ents can still have a faith-filled outlet in which their chil-dren can participate and grow in faith. No need to sign up in advance - just show up at the first rehearsal! If you have any questions, please contact Shelley Burnett at [email protected] That Man is You! Restarting Sept 8 & 10 Our Men's group is starting over! We are going back to the beginning of year 1 so YOU can join us. We learn how to fill our roles as men and fathers in today's culture. Meetings are Thursdays 6-7:30 a.m. OR Saturdays 6:45-8:15 a.m. (both sessions will be the same each week) We start week 1on September 8th & 10th. Don't miss it! Bible Basics LeAnn Rogan will facilitate a Bible Basics lesson for families that lasts about 90 minutes and includes use of scissors and crayons. It’s a tried-and-true lesson that’ll help all the readers in the family learn a little more about the Bible and become a bit more familiar with finding your way around inside that love letter. Please join us with your kids age 6 and up on Tuesday, August 23 in the Multipurpose Room from 6:00-7:30pm. Young Adults "Third Coast Young Adults" is a collaborative effort of St. Therese and Our Lady of Mt. The Movie will be shown at 1 pm on Sun-day August 28th. So come join us to learn more about one of our newest Saints. Heat Up Wisconsin Program We all know that many families are in a position to need a helping hand. In our economy, many people have lost jobs, are veterans, are disabled or ill, or are elders on a limited income. Although someone may own a home, they cannot always afford to replace an old, inefficient fur-nace which only adds to their burden by running up the energy bills. If you know someone who is in need of a new furnace, please nominate them for the Lennox Heat UP Wisconsin Program. Dealers will install up to 100 Lennox furnaces completely free to the chosen recipients. Nominations due by August 28, 2016. For more information, please visit www.heatupwisconsin.com Ladies Auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus Divine Mercy-St. Anne Council The Auxiliary established in October 2015 is a charity arm of the Knights. This women’s faith-based organization endeavors to help women grow intellectually and spiritually while forming friendships. We support each other and our Brother Knights spiritually, emotionally and physically with charitable, spiritual and social activities. Membership is open to all Catholic women over 17. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month @ 6:30pm at church in the multi-purpose room. Please join us soon! If you have any questions, please call Pam Gerstner at 262-914-4368.

Stewardship Prayer

My church is composed of people like me.

I help make it what it is.

It will be friendly, if I am.

Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them.

It will do great work, if I work.

It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver.

It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship if I invite and bring them.

It will be a church of loyalty and love, of fearlessness and faith, and a church with a noble spirit, if I, who make it

what it is, am filled with these same things.

Therefore, with the help of God, I shall dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I want my church to be.
