These days are certainly quite different from any other time most of us have ever known in our lifetimes. I hope that each of you are well and safe. I pray that you and your family have a sufficient amount of all that you may need these days to be healthy. Most of all my hope is that your sureness of the love and care of others helps you to be less anxious and at peace.
This week I had a text message from one of my nieces, Christina. She wanted to know if I needed any groceries or had any errands that she and her boyfriend might do for me. I was grateful for her call, for her staying in touch, and for the somewhat unwelcome reminder that I too fall into one of those age groups who might need to be especially careful these days. Being thought about and remembered is a real gift - both given
and received. Sometimes as much as anything that we might actually do for one another. It was a good reminder for me these days to stay in touch with family and friends, with co-workers and parishioners. Her call will help me do my best. We are in this together!
I encourage all who may be reading this week’s bulletin to stay connected with your loved ones - let them know how you’re doing, listen carefully, and be as generous as possible on their behalf - with your time most of all. Today we’re blessed with so many technological ways of doing this. However, let’s not forget the priceless value of a simple phone call. And remember, handwritten letters and cards are often kept, read over again, and sometimes handed down or discovered by the next generation who may need to know how we did it. hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense regardless of how it turns out Vaclav Haval Poet & First President of the Czech Republic 1993-2003

It was such a blessing to have my daughter’s funeral at Holy Name of Jesus church. I want to thank all who attended, Fr. Mike for a beautiful service and all who made the Mass a meaningful experience. A big thank you to the ladies who provided a fantastic luncheon. Most of all thank you to all for your thoughtfulness and prayers for our family during this time of sorrow God bless you all, Bernette Goymerac.

GIVE GLORY TO GOD On the Fifth Sunday of Lent, just before we begin to enter Holy Week, we are summoned to Bethany. If we had been friends of Mary, Lazarus, and Martha, and found out that Lazarus was gravely ill, we probably would have dropped everything to be with them. This was what was so surprising about the behavior of Jesus. Although he was their close friend, he chose to stay away, that God’s glory would be manifested. This is a persistent theme in John’s Gospel. Right to the very end, Jesus’ works were meant to give glory to the Father. As our Len-ten journey reaches a crescendo, let us be mindful that, as people who have “put on Christ” in baptism, we are also called, by our attitudes and actions, to give glory to God.
