As you probably already know our seminarian Francisco Camacho returned to Conception Seminary in Missouri He went under the conditions of the Coronavirus protocols that are in place in order to help prevent the spread of the virus as is the case here so it is there The students are restricted in their movement out in public and are encouraged to stay home most of us know the stress that comes with that condition I share this with you because I believe a letter or a package of goodies to Francisco can do his soul good Please consider sending Francisco some type of correspondence to lift up his spirits I know he would appreciate hearing form us as a community

Scheduled Okay the date we have been waiting for is here Removal of the seating in the Shrine area will take place on Saturday October 24th beginning at 700 am We are asking everyone to participate in this much-needed project we need muscles to remove the seats and benches we need food and drinks to keep the workers strong and we need PRAYER from everyone else that all goes well It would be helpful if you bring Cordless drills to remove the nuts and bolts and cutting grinders to smooth out the bolts which are not able to be removed We have already done so much in the area of the Shrine to honor Our Blessed Mother under the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe this will be one more thing in order to encourage others to come and spend time in the spirit of prayer asking for the intercession of our Patroness of the parish

It is with a heavy heart that Janie and I inform the community that this years All Saints FestivalTrunk or Treat will have to be postponed With the restrictions in place to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus and for the fact that our event is always very well attended it is recommended that we not host this event Once the restrictions are lifted we are going to have a St Patrick-Easter-Cinco de Mayo-Pentecost-Memorial-Fourth of July-Labor Day-Halloween Party that will be the talk of the town for years to come In the meantime pray for that much-needed vaccine to be developed as quickly as possible

Must share Papi would always say in Spanish ldquoFr David should have Mass outside at the Shrine when the weather is beautiful it is so peacefulrdquo Papirsquos last farewell mass was outside just has he would have wanted As I was meditating during mass I could hear the water running in the waterfall the birds and suddenly a truck shifting gears Wow I thought therersquos Papi shifting gears in his truck a God sent moment Amen

We are still in NEED OF LAPTOPS for some of our catechists If you can donate one it would be greatly appreciated

Also I am needing CATECHISTS for 1st grade and 1st-year Confirmation Unexpected situations happen all the time and some of our catechists have to step down If you are being called to serve in spreading the word of God to our students please call the office for more information

ldquoCalled to Protectrdquo for Parents were presented October 5th 6th and 7th Students will begin their Called to Protect program this week and continue for the next 3 weeks

On behalf of Norberto Martinez Family We would like to thank you all for the prayers flowers food and support during the loss of Our Hero Papi A special thanks to the following Father David for the beautiful Mass Deacon Nacho for his encouraging words and testament of my Papi Olga Villa and the prayer group that recited the rosary and the music and songs by Lupe Cedillo Diane Gomez for the music at Mass and Gilbert and his group who played mariachi music as we laid our Papi to rest The Hospitality Committee for taking care of the food reception and Sally Diaz-Valdez for taking all incoming calls All the caretakers that helped with our Papi A Very Special Thanks to our Guardian Angel Teresa she took care of Papi for several years words cannot express how grateful we are We know he is in heaven and he will be greatly missed

Must share Papi would always say in Spanish ldquoFr David should have Mass outside at the Shrine when the weather is beautiful it is so peacefulrdquo Papirsquos last farewell mass was outside just has he would have wanted As I was meditating during mass I could hear the water running in the waterfall the birds and suddenly a truck shifting gears Wow I thought therersquos Papi shifting gears in his truck a God sent moment Amen
